"Nore...?" Psyche spoke up, but I barley registered what they said.
"They tried to get him off." I continued, while the events replayed in my mind. "They didn't succeed, until Dennis came along, who punched Nore and knocked out the rest of the bullies. Then he took care of Nore and brought him to the infirmary and is going to get suspended."
"So the school doesn't care about bullying either." Psyche sighed, disappointed. "And here we thought that their homophobia was their peak of trashiness."
"You knew about that?" I looked at them surprised.
"Yeah." Psyche sighed, arms crossed and leaning back. "Kara told us about it in a massage last Friday, since there are barely any bad records about the school and it sounded too perfect to be true." They shook their head, then looked at me again. "How is Lenny? Does his mother know?"
"Lenny seems to be feeling better now." I said, poking the eggs. "We as a group decided to not leave him alone on school grounds anymore. I don't know about his mother."
"Thank you for being there for him." Psyche smiled. "You are good friends." Then it vanished. "If the school won't do anything, we know a few individuals, who have quite the knowledge about law and we would have no hesitance to sue those bastards, if Lenny so desired. The bullies and the school. And if that doesn't work, there are other no violent ways to handle this. You can tell him that, if you want. Or we're going to do it. He also should tell his mother. We as a parent would be devastated to find out our child was being bullied all this time and we didn't even know about it."
I nodded curtly.
"What about you?"
"Huh?" I looked confused at them.
"Are you okay?"
My eyes landed on my dinner again, which probably wouldn't be eaten that day. "I think so." I shrugged.
"If you need to talk, you can always come to us." Psyche told me, leaning on the table again. "Or if you don't want to talk to us we can also find you a therapist or bring you to your grandparents, if you need a save space."
"I think I'm good." I stopped them. "Thank you."
"No problem." Psyche nodded. "Just know, if there is anything you need us to do, just tell us. We won't get mad at you or anything. We can talk about it. That's why we're here."
A little bewildered I looked at them. Their weird multi-coloured eyes seemed strangely reassuring as they gave me a soothing smile. I couldn't stand it for too long and stared back down. Now is the time... now or never! Raising my head again, but not looking at Psyche, I slowly opened my mouth. I feared that nothing would come out again, as my heart was painfully beating in my chest.
"Why do you have these documents?" My lips and throat formed the words before I could think. Now the line had left my lips and all the restrains I had before were washed away like bones in a former dried up riverbed. The flood gates had opened. "What do you have to do with it? Do you know about Nore? Who is this Crystal? Why are there experiments done on them?"
Psyche looked stunned. My heart was racing even faster as my chest rose and fell in an uncomfortable manner. The liquid in my eyes seem to evaporate, but I didn't dare to look away from them. I wanted answers. I needed them then and there and I was not willing to back down. All my worries and hesitation were gone. Curiosity and bravery was blooming around my heart, clouding my thoughts from whatever future consequences they could come up with.
The person in front of me took in a deep breath. Slowly, they let it out in a long strand of air flow, making me halt mine. They pulled off their hat and placed it on the table. My eyes travelled to the red and black flower, facing in their direction. Then it moved. Heart jumping into my throat, my eyes widened. I watched it sprout vines as its 'neck' made it turn to me. The petals moved, opening a mouth in the centre of it. Pitch black darkness yawned my way.
