[Spiritual Edition]

They smile airily at her, "He knows better than anyone what it feels like. As do you, Ms Haruhi."

She startles, "Huh?"

"You've lost someone dear to you, I can tell," They turn towards the window now, eyes aimed toward the sky, just shy of staring into the drooping sun. "Just like Tamaki, just like me."

"You-?" She pauses. Part of her is freaked out, really freaked out, but the majority is morbidly curious. "I lost my mom when I was a kid. I don't know about Tamaki but who...?"

"My twin," He finally turns to her, but he isn't looking at her. He looks right over her shoulder, like someone's there; she turns around and there is only air. "She was a genius, she could beat me in just about anything. Everything I could do, she did better."

"Or, everything except seeing. And that was ironic, just a bit." They chuckle before smiling, stretched unnaturally wide and so obviously fake. "I hated her for being so much better than me, so I refused to even look at her. I think I felt more guilty than insecure though. She was blind while I got to see into two worlds. It felt... like I took that from her."

"And then she died. The car crash," She feels like an idiot saying her thoughts aloud but they just nod, eyes setting on her finally. Eyes cold but not missing the same softness he held for everyone in the host club. It makes her stumble over her next words. "When... the day you lost your leg."

"She died that day and I came away almost perfectly fine." The afternoon sun bounces off their hair. Haruhi is caught by the way it shimmers, like waves crashing against a beach. They laugh but its hollow. Their eyes are just as blank. "I was born lucky, I suppose."

[This was meant to be a spiritual gn reader fic before I stopped writing for it. Chances of actually continuing it low.]
