Tommy sat on your bed, staring up at the ceiling. It was like 10 at night but he had shown up anyway, trembling in the cold at your doorstep and you ushered him in before your parents could get up. He's been staring at the ceiling in silence, mulling over the reason he visited you.
This girl he liked at his school had bumped into him when he was out to pick up some errands, holding hands with her partner. Tom was thoroughly crushed and he instantly walked to yours without even getting the errands. It was pathetic but he looked so sad that you couldn't just tell him to get over it.
"Tom," You called and he looked over, eyes flittering back to the ceiling before he decided to sit up, legs swinging over the side of your bed.
"Dude, she's just not into you," You press your hand into Tommy's shoulder, softly shaking your head. Tommy looks at you, face crestfallen and agonized, and you instantly soften. "Want to go get some McDonalds?"
"Sure," he mumbles, "Might as well."
As you walk, Tommy groans. "I feel like shit."
"That's fair mate, you were crushing on a taken girl."
Tommy grumbles softly, hands reaching up to wipe down his face. "Can you act a bit more empathetic?"
"Oh no, I'm so sorry your crush was taken because you refused to confess. That make you happy?" You asked with a raised brow. "I can try again."
"Dear god no," He shakes his head, a small smile on his face despite himself.
