Wanda and Pietro Maximoff are orphaned by a bombing orchestrated by the United States Armed Forces. Novi Grad is heavily damaged but months after, rebuilding efforts are taking place. A new orphanage, Magnus Orphanage opens up near the Novi Grad Church. A brown-haired Wanda is sat on a mat in the middle of the room with her eyes fixated on the television which was showing the last episode of Boy Meets World. Pietro walks into the room and sees Wanda sobbing. He hands her a tissue and sits beside her. He opens a bag of chips and violently crunches on it. They both finish watching the episode. A pale girl with neon green hair walks in rubbing her eyes.
"You guys still awake?" She exclaims. Wanda and Pietro say nothing as the credits roll. Wanda wipes her tears and gets up and goes straight to bed.
"She's very emotional, excuse her." Pietro says as he too goes to bed.
"Wow" Lorna Dane whispers to herself and goes to bed. She walks to the bunk beds and looks over to the Maximoff twins' beds. They are already tucked in and asleep.
That wretched night, Wanda would get a terrible nightmare. A nightmare producing much unease in the girl's head. It felt like a big golden wave of absolute light that had entered her mind, but before it could affect her, Wanda woke up. She picked up her copy of 'The Sun Also Rises' and walked to the French windows and went out into the veranda. She sat on a rocking chair and subsequently fell asleep.
The twins never talked to anyone. They preferred living in solitude and thrived without social interaction. Wanda was always either reading, playing or watching her sitcoms. Lorna's mom and dad weren't dead. Her father, Max Eisenhardt owned the orphanage hence why she lived in it. Her mom, Susan Dane lived in the far-away lands of Krakoa. Lorna goes to bed.
2006
Wanda and Pietro exit the gates of the orphanage and enter into the streets of Novi Grad. They both hold up signs beckoning the Americans and asking them to leave Sokovia. The twins hated the Avengers and the Americans for what they had done to their country and they held them responsible for the death of their parents. The twins regularly participated in these rallies and protests. After the protest died down, they both go back to the orphanage and sit on a desk. Wanda takes out a Mathematics textbook and starts solving linear equations. A pale-white man wearing a Kippah walks in and hands the children cups of hot chocolate. He's wearing a metallic red shirt and wore a gold-plated bracelet with Tibetan, Sanskrit and Prakrit engravings.

2012
The twins watch horrified on the television the devastating Battle of New York. They also watch videos circulated by the Rising Tide against the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D.. Lorna Dane and her father walk in with groceries in their hands. The twins quickly walk towards them and take the bags from them.
"Oof. So many vegetables. This is gonna be the end of me." Pietro says.
"Ugh." Wanda is clearly annoyed at that statement. She loves vegetables.
"You guys really help out so much. Thank you so much!" Max says as he sits down on a chair. Wanda and Pietro venture to the Kitchen and place the vegetables in the refrigerator and the snacks in the pantry. They run back to the TV and put on Hannah Montana Season 4 Episode 13. They both watch the episode and cry and then go to their rooms to rest. After the wiping most of her tears Wanda gets up and starts preparing peanut butter-jelly sandwiches for all the children as a snack.
2014
After a protest, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff are approached by certain HYDRA operatives including, Grant Ward and Doctor List. They convince Wanda and Pietro to join an experiment that will help them fight the Avengers. Wanda hesitates, but Pietro convinces her. They both recieve superhuman traits. Wanda's genetic code was further altered by the Gamma Radiation of the Mind Stone and the prior alterations made by Chthon and the High Evolutionary were unlocked. Wanda unknowingly cast a wish-fulfillment spell that also granted Pietro abilities. After the Twins' sudden disappearance the orphanage put out missing posters all over Novi Grad and the neighboring cities and villages but this effort was to no avail.
