This is a very different story than what I usually do, but I've been wanting to write something like this for awhile. Please leave comments! I love to read them!

Jimin huffs, sweat dripping down his neck as he pulls with as much effort as he can, hands beginning to slip from his grip because of sweat in his palms. This stubborn carrot just won't seem to budge and it's the last one left in the ground. He's surprised the stem hasn't popped off yet, the ground only moving the slightest from his weak attempts. It's probably one of the biggest he's had, he's never struggled so much before.

This one must have absorbed a lot of his growth dust compared to the rest. He sprinkles them daily along with watering them to help them grow healthier and stronger. It seems to be that this one just happened to have taken in a lot more so it grew bigger than the usual size they finish growing at.

So here he is struggling.

Jimin lives alone in a small cottage a little further away from his village. He preferred his own space and was always one who craved independence so he had some of his fairy friends help him out when he began building his dream home. Everyone in his village loves to help each other and he loves it too but as time went by, he realized he'd rather be alone. Growing his own plants and getting on by drawing things like plants that fascinate him was something he daydreamed about more than he should have.

So he chose a spot in the forest that has just happened to have a small pond nearby about a five minute walk to reach and from that pond, a waterfall is about a fifteen to twenty minute walk straight ahead. He goes there from time to time and both are such beautiful sights.

The whole forest is beautiful. Jimin doesn't know anything other than it and he has no interest in wandering out. Everything he needs and loves is here, provided here. His lifestyle is perfect the way it is.

And if he gets too lonely or needs a specific thing that he can't find out here, he can simply walk to the village since he's still in a close enough range to it. It's about a ten minute walk.

He's living well like this.

"Come on!" The fairy grumbles at the carrot, eyebrows knitted with his eyes closed. He has his feet planted securely on the ground, hands still wrapped around the large stem of the carrot. He can finally see some progress with every tug he does now because each time, the ground seems to actually move.

The more he tugs, the more the ground loosens up for the carrot to detach. And finally, with one last tug and a pop, the carrot flies out of the ground and Jimin is flown back onto his bum.

He shrieks but then quickly laughs even if he feels exhausted. He's relieved when he sees the dirt covered vegetable beside his leg. It's huge with lots of roots still attached to it. It's a little deformed but it's definitely the biggest he's ever seen in his twenty years of being a fairy who loves to grow food and plants. He's seen plenty, but not like this. It left a gaping hole in the ground and Jimin's jaw drops when he gets on his knees to peer inside.

It's as long as his forearm and slightly thicker so the hole looks like it could be big enough for a den of a small rodent.

When he looks back at the carrot, he can't help but laugh at it before deciding to get up and take it inside to rinse it off with the rest of the normal looking ones in his awaiting basket.

Carrot soup sounds good right about now, he thinks to himself as he walks in through his front door.

He brings the vegetable to his nose and sniffs it, letting out a small hum delighted at the fresh smell. As much as it was a pain trying to take it out of the ground, he hopes he gets more this big because these are the jackpots!

The aroma of freshly cooked carrot soup fills his little cottage, the kitchen window slid opened allowing some of the heat that has gathered from the soup to air out. Allowing the air to circulate even if it smells wonderful.

He taps the stirring spoon on the edge of his pot to let some of the soft vegetables slide off of it before he places it aside on a napkin. He hums a song as he opens up one of his cabinets and takes out a bowl for himself.

He scoops himself a portion and sits down on one of his chairs at the table, his spoon and drink are already set up at his spot so he wastes no time in digging in.

When he finishes, belly warm and full, he catches a glimpse of movement outside his window the moment he gets up to head for the sink. He stops, empty bowl tight in his hands as he peers outside where the sun has already set, the darkness of the night making it hard to see far in the distance.

His heart thumps only seeing the trees that are almost submerged in complete darkness and he's afraid something might pop out if he stares too long so he rips his gaze away. He quickly moves to watch his bowl, close the window, and head to bed.

This didn't use to happen enough to be concerning, but lately it's been happening quite often. He can't help but feel paranoid when it gets dark and things begin to roam outside because of it.

He knows fairies aren't the only creatures in this forest so he put up little lights in front of his door hoping the creatures that come out won't bother to step into the light.

Once he blows out most of his candles that help light up the rooms inside his house, he hops into bed. He has jars of different dust on shelves that slightly illuminate his room and he cuddles up. Some leaves that have grown around the branches of his bed are long enough to tickle him and he giggles softly before shifting his position, forgetting about the paranoia he felt in the kitchen ten minutes prior.

He sighs feeling comfortable under his yellow blanket and he allows sleep to pull him into dreamland. A rustle is heard somewhere close outside, but Jimin is already fast asleep to hear it.
