Yuu Sentari, who recently traveled to America to attend college at the expense of his parents, was no ordinary teenager. Not in one of those, 'cool ways' that some people aren't ordinary, he can't even speak to anyone without making a fool of himself.
His professors had learned this quickly, and taking pity on his worse-than-normal social anxiety they allowed him to remain silent during class and not answer any questions. Unsurprisingly this created a rather stressful relationship with his peers, who don't think twice about pushing or tripping him in the hallways.
"Freak!" One would say, tripping him.
"Teacher's pet" another would hiss in his direction.
However, because he's a coward, he lets these things happen. So, he finds his power through video games. Whenever he's not at the college, he's hidden away in his single-person dorm binging game after game. He's played several MMOs and RPGs, but only one really stood out to him.
"Wizards and Traders," at face value, is nonpopular. This means even more to Yuu, who enjoys the freedom that a limited player base gives him. The game's objective is to amass riches like gold and diamonds and learn spellcraft to become rich and powerful.
Yuu loved mining recourses in the game, he could play for days. Mining away millions of in-game dollars, and not spending a single penny. Not because he doesn't want to, but because he doesn't want to interact with the other traders at the in-game markets.
This means that he is significantly weaker than anyone of his level, but at least Yuu has the biggest stockpile of raw material ever amassed in "Wizards and Traders."
Yuu stood from his desk, the game played on his monitor, his avatar doing whatever avatars do when they aren't being controlled. Looking at the food and water stockpile that he has in his pantry, he realizes that he has no food or water.
He huffed, this means a trip to the gas station down the street.
"Shit."
He steps outside the dorm, and quickly puts his mask and hoody on, covering his very pale face. As he walked to the gas station he averted his gaze whenever someone would walk past.
He hummed music to himself, trying to stay calm. Until the gas station appeared in sight. Just across the road. Yuu ran across and to the doors, which he pulled instead of pushed. Blushing as someone inside the store snickered at him, he went to buy a case of water and a few things of microwave noodles.
He leaves the store, and begins his trip back to the street, he feels a little tired but thinks nothing of it.
Yuu steps closer to the road from the sidewalk, and his head goes fuzzy. Having not drank any water for the past two days may have been a little bit of a mistake.
Losing his ability to control his movements, Yuu fell face-first in front of a moving truck. It was on this day that a young easy-going teenager, Yuu Sentari died.
......
Bright red, so much red. It felt as if Yuu were swimming in an ocean of deep crimson. Yet he couldn't feel his hands, arms, or legs and he moved forwards. He called for help, but nothing other than silence met his ears. The only thing he could think was that he was dead.
"Whaa!" He gasped, "where the hell am I?"
Yuu's surroundings are cold and damp and dark when suddenly a lone flame comes to life in front of him. What he saw amazed and worried him at the same time, however, it isn't a flame at all, but a beautiful red cristal. He was in a cave, the crystals that looked straight out of "Wizard and Trader" told him that much. But why is he here? It can't actually be the game, that's crazy, right? Yuu gives himself a once-over, finding a leather satchel hanging over his shoulder.
He took it off and rummaged through it, a creepy book, a torch, a lighter, a pickaxe, and a cantine. That's a standard DnD cave explorer loadout, luckily he was still wearing his sweater and jeans so he's not too cold.
"The Guide of the Dead" he read out loud, looking at the book cover. He almost laughed when he opened it, inside the book were multiple spells for summoning different types of undead.
"Lifter undead? I assume those are strong zombies?" Looking at the spell next to the name, Yuu knew that there was only one way to know if he was really in his favorite game. He began to chant the spell, feeling outlandish the whole way.
"Use summon, spawn heavy undead!" He yelled, and for a moment, nothing at all happened. When suddenly, a chill fell down Yuu's spine, and a crisp shearing draft moved through the cave. What he saw was just like magic, nine feet tall or even more, a giant corpse formed in front of him.
"Brooooog" a low murmur left its completely dried-out lips.
"It's seriously a zombie!?"
