(Don't fake it saying there is no pain)
Vetri huffs and shakes his head, then Maaran turned around hastily.
"Wait... Nijamave valikalaya? That would mean you are getting worse... Ambulance vera innum varala.."
(It really doesn't hurt? The ambulance is also not here yet!)
Maaran said kneeling down beside the make shift chair on which Vetri was sitting.
"Illa illa valikudhu... Naa summa reel vittutu irundhen"
(No..no...it does hurt! I was just faking it)
Maaran shakes his head and smirks.
Moments later, the ambulance arrives and along with it DC Ratnavel and his convoy.
Before the police could take over, Maaran gets Vetri into the ambulance, he looks straight at Ratnavel and says, "he has been fatally injured and needs immediate treatment... Neenga treatment mudinjadhukku aprom arrest panlaam."
(You can arrest him after the treatment)
Surprisingly, Ratnavel doesn't put up any argument and also shuts up any other arguments with a single look.
As Maaran is paraded off to the police station for investigation, he wishes he had hugged Vetri once more because he knows he won't be seeing him for a long time.
2~
Ratnavel is not a constable or a SI, he is a DC, which means he can see things that his subordinates can't and he was naturally, so he sees things a lot of people can't or don't.
Which is why he knew the moment he met Vetri, he knew the kid was neither a criminal nor a psychopath. Vetri had more finesse than most criminals he had encountered at the same time he had more professionalism than most of his own colleagues.
Both of which when combined with crime usually make a top notch criminal.
The kid had the ability to put everyone in the room on an edge without saying a word, he had the ability to lead the conversation and turn it the way he wants it to go even when he was being interrogated and he had the ability to make people listen and even believe him.
All good qualities of street smart criminals. Anyone else would have bought in to it, but he wasn't anyone else, so... You know... He didn't buy it.
On a second glance, Ratnavel saw... He saw the more he looked. Vetri was someone who never had a childhood, someone who has seen the ugly side of the world too much, someone who grew up too fast and someone who was ready to die for something he believes in.
That's the reason he asked him 'nee enna unmavadhiya?' Ratnavel observed how he didn't deny it.
(Are you a terrorist?)
Most terrorists deny being terrorists they think taking innocent lives was justified all in the name of the mission. Vetri wasn't remorseful about those he killed but he didn't enjoy it either.
Also, terrorists don't differentiate between whom they kill. Vetri on the other hand, stuck to one single professional type, which gave into the narrative that he was a serial killer.
