RUPTURE
Damian's POV
"Alam mo pare, loko loko ako pero ibang level ka," napapailing na sambit ni Nigel bago siya uminom ng alak. Napapangiti siya pero hindi dahil sa natatawa siya ngunit dahil sa hindi siya makapaniwala sa mga nai-kuwento ko. "Naririnig mo ba ang sarili mo, Damian? What happened to the last conversation we had? Akala ko ba aalamin mo lang ang rason niya pagkatapos ay lalayuan mo na? Why the f*ck would you try to steal her away now?"
"If she loves me, she should be with me."
Nigel frowned. "Does she love you then?"
Tumingin lang ako sa kanya at huminga ng malalim.
I haven't really cleared things with Iris. Hindi ko alam kung may feelings pa ba siya sa akin. I can't read her mind and I can't understand her actions. Pero iba ang mga tingin niya sa akin. Sometimes I feel like she wants me but she's just holding herself. Kasi mayroong Dash...
"Dude, come on. You're going down the dangerous path. Wag mo nang alamin. Hayaan mo na siya kay Dashiell."
"I don't think I can do that." Uminom ako ng alak bago ako nagsalita ulit. "You didn't hear how she cried that night. Pare, hagulgol ang iyak niya nang malaman niya ang totoo. What if she's crying because she wants to be with me? Hindi ba mahalaga na maging masaya si Iris? If her heart beats for me, why should she be with Dash?"
Nigel ran a hand through his hair. "Let's say she realized she loves you more than your brother and they broke up because of that, do you honestly think she'd be happy knowing that you both hurt someone?"
Napayuko na lang ako habang iniisip ang kapatid ko.
He will never accept this. Lalo na at nakikita ko kung gaano siya ka-in love kay Iris. His eyes follow her everywhere.
"Ikaw na mismo nagsabi, pre. Magkakasira kayo ni Dashiell kapag tinuloy mo ang plano mo. Do you crave for her love that much, you're willing to turn your back from your family? Hindi lang si Dash ang mawawala sa'yo, pati na ang nanay niyo. You know she'd hate you when she learns the truth."
Hindi na ako nakapagsalita. Alam ko maraming magagalit sa akin at hindi nila ako maiintindihan. Madami ang manghuhusga at tatawagin akong makasarili pero ang tagal kong hinanap si Iris. I loved her for years. I tried to forget her but at the back of my mind, she was always there. She was always the one for me.
I poured my glass more rum before I looked at Nigel.
"It's not even up to me anymore. It's up to Iris. If she chooses me, that's it. I'd risk everything in my life just to be with her, just so we can be together."
Napailing na lang siya at nilaklak na rin ang alak na nasa baso niya.
"This will be bloody, bro. I can feel it."
