"I can satisfy your appetite."
"The kids have to eat too."
"Make them a peanut butter and jelly and some milk, they be alright."
"That's not fair."
"Okay. Okay." he pouted, "I'll be down shortly."
I smiled at his pout and blew a kiss, winking as I departed the room.
When I went in to the kitchen I looked inside of the refrigerator and cupboards with no clue of what to cook. I don't make big dinners very often like I use to because CJ and Kimora didn't eat big meals yet.
I decided to make the kids favorite, Chicken Parmesan over Campanelle noodles and Strawberry Bubble Tea. Plus, it would only take about a half an hour to make, so it was a quick meal.
While I got started on that I could hear the water running upstairs and the television was on up in the kids room.
I knocked out making that meal quickly and fixed four plates. Even though Chris said he wasn't hungry, I knew it was far from true, he was funny though. And cute.
After I had the table set, Chris and the kids came downstairs. The kids were already in there bathed, in their pajamas, and Kimora's hair was tied up.
"Aww, you are a sweetheart," I cooed kissing Chris on the cheek.
Well all sat down and the kids squealed in delight as they noticed I made one of their favorite meals. Then they put their little hands together, ready for grace.
"Who wants to say grace tonight?" Chris asked.
"ME!" They both yelled.
"Shhh," I notioned for them to calm down.
"But she said grace last night mommy!" CJ whined.
"Okay, stop whining. Go ahead and say grace," I stated patiently.
"Okay," he started, "Thank you Father God, for this deliciously meal in front of us tonight. And Thank you for my Mommy, Daddy, Kimmy, and Kayin. Thank you for my family. Amen"
"Amen," everyone else agreed.
"That was good sweetie," I smiled as I cut in to my chicken.
He smiled back proudly, looking just like his father.
"So how was school today?" Chris asked the kids.
"Fun," Kimora replied, "we're doing a play."
"Really? What play are you doing?" I asked.
"I don't know," she replied shrugging her shoulders.
I shook my head and chuckled under my breath, "well when you find out you let me know so I could be there."
"Okay," she smiled taking a sip of Strawberry Bubble Tea.
"Why you so quiet little man?" Chris asked CJ.
He shrugged, "I don't know what to talk about."
"How was your day?" He pressed.
"Good."
"Why was it good?"
"Um, because I didn't get in trouble," he responded not really to interested in being the topic of discussion.
"Why would you get in trouble baby?" I asked pressing on, I didn't like how he was acting so off. He should be excited to share his stories, he was only four and had nothing to stress about.
He didn't respond he just stared down at his plate and scooped the last one his contents on his plate in to his mouth.
"Because," Kimora stated, "He kissed Leilani on the cheek."
"It's not nice to tattle Kimmy," I wrned her softly.
"I'm sorry," she replied quietly.
"CJ, who's Leilani?" I asked softly.
"She goes to my school," he stated quietly, "I like her."
"Awww, my baby has a little crush," I said looking up at Chris to see him with a little smirk on his face.
"He's not a baby anymore, I told you, my little man is growing up."
I rolled my eyes at him sarcastically.
"But look," Chris continued, "you can't be going around kissing on the little girlies. They have father's too and I know I would upset if some little boy was kissing on Kimora or Kayin. You picking up what I'm putting down son?"
CJ nodded his head with a smile, happy that he wasn't in any real trouble.
"Good."
• After Dinner •
The kids were in bed sleeping. I was in the room on my laptop getting together our family vacation. Chris was downstairs doing pre-washing the hard dishes before loading them in to the dish washer.
I had gotten an email alert on my phone. When I checked it, I seen that it was from Rashad.
It read, "Did you ask your husband about the dinner party?"
I replied, "No I haven't. In fact, I don't think that this business deal should be done."
He replied back quickly, "Why not?"
"Because no amount of money is worth the harassment or tension that could be brought in to my family, especially since we have young children. Plus I'm more than sure that you could find another restaurant."
"I have my heart set on Bliss. No one can top their venue or cuisine."
"Well if you want business done that bad then I suggest that you make a proper business proposal and present it to Chris. I want to keep my distance from you in this whole ordeal. I'm only going to deal with you when it is absolutely necessary."
"Come on, why you gotta be like that. Back in the day we didn't have any problems."
"That was back in the day. This is now. The devil comes in all shapes and forms and to me your starting to look like it. You won't be breaking up my happy home, I'm just letting you know that now."
"I hear you." Was all he said before I seen that his status switched to offline.
"So is everything situated?" Chris asked as he walked in to the room right when I shutting my laptop and settled in to bed.
"Yup. Finances and all."
"That my baby," he said crawling over to me and kiss me on the lips.
"That I am," I said cuddling closer to him. My back to his front. His arm right arm was under me and wrapped my shoulders and his left wrapped around my waist.
We didn't really get down on our knees to pray tonight but we still said prayer in that position. Or more so whispered it with Chris right in my ear. Thanking God for me and the kids. For family all together. And I did the same, I did not take my family for granted.
It's crazy because we almost gave up what we were fighting for and to think that we would have lost out on this... We would have been losing out on love and life.
