"Don't ignore me, Y/n M/n L/n. I was talking—"
She pulled her AirPods from her pocket and stuck them into her ears before she willed her database into existence in between her and the man in front of her. He was now being blocked by the previous TV broadcast that he was blocking with his body. It's funny how things circle around like that, huh?
Dazai was getting fed up with her ignoring him, so he leaned forward and pulled her earbuds out, while simultaneously canceling the usage of her ability his his own.
She picked up the cat into her arms and went to stand to her feet and walk away as she said, "Dazai, just stop—"
Dazai leaned over the chair and caged her into the seat, preventing her from escaping as he said, "Please... stop calling me that, will you? I know you're upset, but please just listen and let's talk this out?"
Her eyes scanned his own, and she could see a hint of hurt in them. She didn't like seeing that emotion in his hazel orbs, even when she was angry at him.
Y/n tapped Mochi's back to signal him to get up off of her while the adults talked, and the cat surprisingly understood her gesture and hopped from her arms onto the floor before dashing towards a certain tigerboy's room.
Dazai was leaning above her while she pressed her back into the chair. She sighed and scooted as far to one side of the chair as she could and lifted the knit blanket draped over her body to the side. He accepted her invitation and sat beside her in the large chair and pulled the blanket over them. But he didn't stop there.
He reclined the chair and turned onto his side before grabbing her and pulling him towards her into a hug. They laid there in silence a few moments before he muttered into her hair, "Thank you... and sorry. Next time he helps, I'll be on my best behavior. Please just never call me by any other name."
Y/n could almost hear the desperation in his voice as he said that request. She realized something then and there that almost made her cry.
"No. I'm sorry... I really shouldn't have been so mad. I don't know what your past with him was like... I just can't help but be thankful for him because he basically saved your dumb life tonight... You would have died if he hadn't shown up, and if the mafia had sent someone else how could that thing have been defeated— I just— I was just—"
She began to choke up thinking about the worst-case scenario. The gravity of the situation finally settled into both of their heads. This bout with the Guild was life or death, and Dazai was going to die if Chuya hadn't shown up.
Y/n felt Osamu's fingers brush through her hair as he pulled her face closer to his chest.
With three simple words from him, she let all of her frustration with the situation out.
"You're so strong."
She let her tears fall at those words.
Waaahhhhhhh
"I thought I was going to die when I was kidnapped! AndI thought Haruno and Naomi would die when we were attacked! And I thought Atsushi and Kyoka were going to die when he was taken! Kyoka;s not even safe yet! And I thought you were going to die tonight andI just want all of this to be over with so we can all be safe again!"
He clenched his hand onto her waist as she cried while his other hand gently brushed through her hair.
He was livid.
His favorite person on the planet was under all of this emotional stress, and yet she still found the strength to push through it and work herself thin and bare just to make sure everyone she cared about survived.
"Shhhh, shh, shhh... It's okay, we're all okay. Kyoka will be okay, I can guarantee it. We'll all be back to normal soon. Just— just focus on the good, okay?"
His words didn't help much.
What did help was her simply wailing about all of her stress and pent-up anger to the man as she bawled into his shirt. He would have to change it before they went to sleep because this one was going to have salt stains on it now...
After around 20 minutes of her complaining to him about everything bothering her, she stopped wailing and now sat snuggled into his chest. She sniffled every now and then, and when she did Osamu would reach over and grab her a tissue from a nearby end table for her to wipe her nose. Eventually, her episode stopped completely and she fell asleep in his arms with her legs entangled in his own while he held her waist to his own.
He laid awake for a few more hours though, still absentmindedly brushing his fingers through her hair.
What was he doing lying awake? Even though the TV was still on, he definitely wasn't paying any attention to it.
No, he was planning.
He once said if anyone made her cry, he would burn everything that person worked for and loved into the ground, or sink it into the ocean. And he was now planning to do both, but he would need Rampo's help tomorrow for about 10% of the planning. At the moment though, he is devising a plan that would inflict the maximum amount of damage on the Guild. And he would see it through personally.
He looked down at the frail and emotionally drained woman sleeping in his arms. She was so beautiful it was almost painful. He couldn't understand how anyone could ever try to hurt her. She was one of the few genuinely good people in this world, and here she was worn thin and passed out due to an emotional breakdown.
He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her hairline before closing his eyes and snuggling into her hair.
"Two days... just hold out for two more days, Y/n..."
