Two Rules

Chapter twenty-four: "sometimes it can't be about me"

I look at the ground, even though he can't see me, "oh, okay. Well I'll see you tomorrow then..."

"Shit, no I'm sorry that's not what I meant. I was talking about the rest of the group. You're actually the only person I do want to see, and apologize to for yelling earlier."

"It's oka-"

"No" he interrupts me, "It's not, you don't deserve that."

"You had a bad day, I get it. So you do want me to stay with you tonight?"

"Yes, I do, y'all move rooms around however you want, but I need you with me tonight."

I smile at his vulnerability, a side I don't see often. A side I'm going to miss.

"I'll figure it out, be safe please."

"I love you, Scar."

I almost cry right then and there, but I keep it together. How can I say it back to him knowing that I'm leaving? 

"I know, me too." I hang up, hopefully he doesn't think too much into that. 

I turn back to the group and give a small smile, "he's ok, but he really doesn't want to see anyone else so he wants us to move rooms around."

"Yeah we figured, Seth and Chloe are you guys wanting to share a room or are you not there yet?"

Chloe looks at Seth a little worried, "I don't know that we're there yet."

"That's okay," Nat smiles at Chloe, "Andrew and I will take one room, Noah and Scarlett, Seth and Cameron, and then you and Bella. Good with everyone?"

We all nod and make our way upstairs. When we get to the fourth floor, where the whole team is, my dad is pacing in the hallway.

"Oh Scarlett, have you heard from him? Where the hell is he?"

"He's fine. He went on a walk and he's coming back now. He doesn't want to see anyone."

"Well too damn bad, he can't avoid his coach forever."

"Dad, just give him until tomorrow. Please."

He looks at my pleading eyes and sighs, "fine, but he is not getting out of this."

He kisses the top of my head and waves good night to the rest of the group before going to his room. 

We all switch rooms and when Noah still isn't back, I take this time to talk to Nat.

Knocking on their door, Nat answers it confused. "Hey what's up?"

"Can you talk for a sec?" 

She must sense the tears threatening to spill because she instantly gets worried and grabs my hand, pulling me inside.

"Is this something Andrew can hear?"

I think it over, honestly hearing the opinion of his best friend might help things. 

"Um actually yeah, it might help to tell him too."

"Oh god are you pregnant?" Andrew asks from the bed.

"What? No."

He sighs in relief, "then what's going on Scarlett?"

"I have to break up with Noah."

Nat sits down with a heavy sigh, "what are you talking about? Why?"

"Andrew you know about Sam Prescott right?"

His eyes widen, "wow I didn't think he'd tell you about that one."

"Um I feel very left out, someone fill me in please." Nat says.
