WORN OUT SHOES

Put yourself in their shoes
Think from their perspective.
Yes, I did it
Been doing it by and by.

Now I feel the pain, tons of it
For something that I had never even done.
Over and over again I took it all to my heart
Weeping endlessly for every broken soul.

Of course, it's not just the sadness I let my heart feel
I felt happiness, anxiety, anger, love, and fear.
I tried to take in, understand, and feel as much as I could
But it's a truth that tears are abundant of all.

The pens now write the grief like never before
and the lips they mourn more than they speak.
Broken hearts and lonely souls keep wandering under the sunset
seeking the warmth they don't even recognize.

My heart has grown heavy watching them,
and my soul has gone numb from feeling them.
My mind has turned old,
tired of everything around, tired of waiting for tomorrow to come by and by.

It's been the same day for ages
while the date kept changing on and on.

AN: If you feel like you've read this somewhere... yes, I've already used a certain part of this poem in one of my stories WEEPING WILLOWS published on another account called thetwo_tyros. If you haven't read that you can give it a try, it's a small story certainly as depressing as these poems.
