"Well, an extra helping hand won't hurt." he sighed before getting up from his seat. "Follow me." he led the two girls towards the kitchen which was a couple of rooms over. In the case that someone decides to enter the inn, the owner can quickly attend to their needs.
"Well, let's get started."
...
Miki and the owner entered the cafeteria with a cart of food each. Everyone, excluding (Y/n), was present and were patiently waiting for the food. However, everyone was awkwardly silent and not even a sound was made in the room. They were just staring down at the table top.
"Um..." Miki was the one to break the silence. "What's going on here? Did they get creamed?" the owner asked his niece who quickly denied it, "No, they won. They definitely won." "Yeah, we won." a different voice suddenly joined their conversation and they quickly turned to see who it was.
It was just (Y/n) who had come back after making a quick trip to the bathroom. "They just don't know how to react to it, that's all." was all she said before handing out the plates to each table. The two relatives didn't question it any further and followed her lead.
"E-Enjoy your meal." Miki wished before exiting the cafeteria with her uncle. (Y/n) had joined the first table where Umeno, Komori, Yoshida, and some of the third years were seated. Even after the hosts had left the room, no one made a sound. The only one who was reacting to anything was Umeno as she was sniffling.
"Congratulations, well done." Komori said and still no one reacted, "It's been three months since I joined Jinko. I'm sorry I couldn't lead you to victory until now. Captain, do you have anything you want to say?"
Sekizan stood up from his seat. "Well, uh..." he honestly didn't know what to say, "Everyone worked hard. Both the guys fighting on the field and the guys cheering from the sidelines." Umeno started letting her tears flow and (Y/n) gave her a handkerchief to cry into.
"We prepared really hard, and..." "Captain." Komori cut him off, "One of the unspoken rules of rugby is not to celebrate your victories too much. You must show consideration for the losing team. They say you shouldn't celebrate excessively, even when you score a try. Because you didn't do it alone. The entire team passed the ball along the line, and you just happened ot be waiting at the end."
Umeno at this point was letting out soft sobs and (Y/n) comforted her by rubbing her back.
"But there are only Jinko players in this room. Aren't you happy?" he didn't answer for a second, "I'm really happy!" he answered uncharacteristically and everyone laughed at his behaviour. Komori practically slammed his arm onto the table and exclaimed, "Then show it, you idiots!"
"Yes, sir!"
...
After dinner, everyone retired back to their allocated rooms and the managers were sharing their room with Miki, who they had invited to have a sleepover with. The futons were laid out side-by-side and the managers were lying down on their respective ones. (Y/n) was playing with her phone while Umeno was munching on some snacks she had brought.
"I'm exhausted." Umeno said before taking a bite out of her potato chips.
"You guys are really amazing." Miki said before joining the two on the floor. "What? How?" Umeno asked.
"From dawn to dusk.all you do is work for the team." Miki explained. "Well, yeah. It's hard work, but it's the job of the team's managers. If I quit, (Y/n)-senpai will be doing it alone." (Y/n) grumbled in the background.
"Hey, did you find anyone on our team handsome?" Now this got (Y/n)'s attention.
"What? They're all handsome." (Y/n) was already sitting up at MIki's response and Umeno was throwing her head back, laughing. "And there it is! You know that's not true." the main manager joined in the laughter at the comment and moved herself to form a circle with them.
"But I feel like they'd all be popular." MIki sat down and hug a pillow to her chest, "That was my first time seeing rugby players, and they looked so cool out there." she accepted a chocolate offered by Umeno.
"I don't know about that." Umeno popped a piece of chocolate. "At school, people treat them like they're loud and annoying." (Y/n) laughed at how true the statement was.
"Ume-chan-san, are you dating anyone?" Feeling flustered at the question, Umeno, who originally was lying on her stomach, was not rolling around on the ground while squealing like a love sick girl. Her arms were extended above her head and she was accidentally or purposely hitting (Y/n) with it whenever she rolled close enough, "No way! Not at all!"
She calmed down after Miki pointed out that her shirt had exposed her stomach.
"(Y/n)-san. You're dating the captain, right?" "Nope." the question having been asked one too many times has watered down and the manager wasn't fazed by it anymore. Seeing Miki's shocked expression, (Y/n) smirked, "You're not the first person to think that. Taku has been a very close friend of mine since we were young."
"Eh? Really? Well, he must be popular then?"
"Not really. His looks send people running the other way."
"Come to think of it," Umeno finally got off the ground and is now sitting up, "in the rugby world, they say you should marry someone who plays in a position with a smaller number."
Miki didn't understand the logic. "The backs are skinny and fast. A lot of them are all for show." Oharano was the first person that popped up into (Y/n)'s mind and she laughed at how true it was. "Forwards seem like they're all brawn and no brain." this time it was Hirota that came to mind.
"But a lot of them are nice. On our team, that would be #2, Hachi-san. He's a magnanimous chubster!" "He does seem nice." Miki commented. "He is nice. He's like a mom more than anything." (Y/n) added.
"#3, Hirota-san, is a little removed from what makes forwards attractive." "But it does feel good to watch someone who eats a lot." Miki said.
"Do you like to cook for that kind of person, Miki-san?" the (h/c-ette) asked and she cheerfully responded, "Yep, I do!"
Umeno continued on with the list, "At around #9 or #10 and above, you get guys a little full of themselves. On our team, that's Oharano. He's handsome and smart though." "Oh, he's like a prince."
"Once you get to the Wings, their showiness increases significantly. Ebumi's pretty popular though he's as rough as they come." "Even newbies to the sport find it cool when a guy sprints down the field to score a try."
"Our #15's are either average or just too timid. The positions tend to be that way, so it's better to marry positions with smaller numbers." "I see..." Miki concluded.
"Who did you like the most, Miki-chan?" Umeno asked with no hesitance, not like it affected Miki anyways.
"I think Hirota-san is more my type out of all of them." she answered and it shocked the two managers. "Eh?" "What?"
"Uh, well, Miki-san." (Y/n) pat the girl on the shoulder, "You should take over my duties as his personal food giver." "Eh?"
"Hirota-san always asks (Y/n)-senpai for food." Umeno explained. "At school, after practice, before practice." she sighed, "I swear his stomach is a bottomless pit."
"Then, (Y/n)-san, who is your type?" seemed like Miki still wasn't satisfied with the lack of answer from the older, who short circuited from the question. "What?" "Definitely the captain."
"I bet no one else gets your attention anymore, (Y/n)-senpai."
"Shut up, Umeno!"
