The ball was then given to Oharano who kicked it out. "Gion, the ball's been kicked out. What happens now?" Umeno quizzed Gion and he thought about it for a few seconds. "Uh, the big guys jump and try to win the ball?" he answered unsurely. "That's right. A line-out. Good job." she said while reaching over and teasingly ruffled his hair.

"Yeah!" he exclaimed and Umeno laughed at his reaction.

On with Chapter 7:

3RD PERSON POV

"You throw the ball in between two lines - your team's and your opponent's, right?" Gion asked. "Why can't you just throw it to a teammate? They fouled us."

Hachioji was standing outside the line with the ball, facing the two teams' forwards and scrum-halves who were lined up beside each other.

"Because rugby is a gentleman's sport." (Y/n) answered. "Even after a foul, both teams are given an opportunity to regain possession. Quite ironic with all the tackling going around in the match if you ask me."

He then brought the ball over his head and threw it right in the middle. "Gasp, it's too high!" he exclaimed and the two teams began lifting up a Lock to catch the ball. Iwashimizu managed to barely catch the ball with his left hand, thanks to his long arm. He then threw it behind towards Raita who was running behind.

"His size sure makes him dependable." Matsuo had come to the bench and took a seat beside Umeno. "After all, rugby is a physical sport." (Y/n) noticed Gion flinch at the mention of size from the corner of her eye.

The players were currently in the middle of a ruck(?) with the ball in the middle. Keijo's Captain, Hisakawa, managed to break through the ruck with the ball now in his possession.

"They turned the ball over!" Umeno gasped.

He then ran towards the goal while pushing away his opponents easily, until he reached Hirota who managed to slow him down greatly.

Instead of continuing to push through, Hisakawa decided to pass the ball to the back.

"Nice pass!" Taira exclaimed when he caught the ball and knocked Raita out of his way.

"It's not fair." Umeno said. "Keijo's a private school powerhouse. Well built athletes, assembled through middle school recommendations, get to train in an ideal environment. We can't beat Keijo for physicality."

"But.. physical ability isn't the most important quality in rugby." Matsuo pointed out and got everyone's attention. "What's most important is the ability to overcome your fear.. And charge full force into opponents bigger than yourself."

At that moment, (Y/n) suddenly remembered about her first year in Jinko, specifically the time where she first met the Keijo team. At that time, it was also Sekizan's first match since he had started rugby in highschool.

F L A S H B A C K - 1st year of highschool @ Keijo

(Y/n) was leaning against the wall outside the locker room provided for away teams like her. Since she was new to all this manager stuff, she didn't know what to do and where to go. There didn't seem to be a manager from this school too, so she was all alone on this one. Thankfully, there was a water fountain near the locker rooms, so she was able to at least fill the bottles while waiting.

"(Y/n)." her name was called and she snapped out of her thoughts. "Let's go." the team had just finished changing and Sekizan called out to his friend.

The team then walked to the field where Keijo's team were waiting for them. "Hello!" Jinko's captain greeted and the rest did the same.

"Let's have a good game today."

"We have first-year novices with us, too. So go easy on us, guys." Jinko's captain said and (Y/n) was hiding behind Sekizan since she was a bit shy standing in front of all these men.

However, for some reason, Keijo's attention was towards their direction and it seemed like they were intimidated.

In the end, they ended up losing with a score of 115-0. The seniors didn't seem upset at all while walking through the rain. Since they didn't really know the outcome of the weather, everyone was soaked from head to toe, including their new manager.

"Private schools are so strong!"

"If it hadn't been raining, we could've kept them under 100 points."

"They even have showers here."

"What? Wow."

While the team went to the locker rooms to change, Sekizan decided to stay back with Hachioji and practice his tackling. However, the red-haired man kept on getting pushed away easily.

Hachioji had told (Y/n) to stay under a sheltered area but she didn't want to leave them alone under the rain. But with enough persuasion, she now stood nearby under a shelter beside the locker rooms with their bags beside her on the floor, still in her tracksuit.

She jumped a little when the door opened to reveal a handful of their opponents.

"The game ended more than an hour ago." they were shocked when they saw the two first years practicing alone.

Sensing that enough practice was done for now, Sekizan and Hachioji walked to where their manager stood.

"Hey, what's your name?" Taira asked, still surprised.

"Sekizan Takuya."

(Y/n) ended up getting a blazer lended to her from Hisakawa since he didn't want her to be cold on the way home although she could have changed into her uniform, but he said that wasn't enough.

"I started playing rugby in highschool, too. I thought I was training as hard as Taku, but I was fooling myself." Matsuo said as he too got reminded of the past with a small smile on his face. "He was the only one who could even come close to competing with the other school."

"But, you can't do it alone. Unless all 15 guys on the field want to win, you're not playing rugby."

"I want to win with Taku."
