Ch 5: Rest is Needed

"The mangekyou is the sharingan's most powerful form. To a guy like Danzo...it's a threat just waiting to present itself." Shisui fed Sasuke a little bit of the truth. Just enough to keep his rage down and his curiosity at bay.

"That doesn't make any sense. So his eyes went all liney again-" Naruto complained and Itachi froze. Wait-again? He looked at Sasuke, but his brother's head was already turned so he faced Naruto. His brother was definitely glaring at the blonde. The way Naruto cut himself off abruptly proved it. He had a gobsmacked look on his face before it changed to heartbreak.

"Sasuke..." Sakura sighed from Sasuke's other side. "...you couldn't tell them about that either?"

Itachi's eyebrows furrowed. No, he couldn't possibly..."Sasuke." Itachi began slowly. "Do you...do you have the mangekyou right now?"

"I hate you, Naruto." Itachi's question went unanswered by his younger brother. Or rather the lack of a denial answered it all together. "You can never just keep your mouth shut can you?"

Itachi had received a boat load of surprise since this screen came on. A secret relationship and the Orochimaru attack should've been top of the list but now this...Itachi had never felt like he failed Sasuke more. Shisui practically dropped his kunai in surprise at the news. How long had Sasuke had it!?

"Don't be like that, Sas." Naruto protested. "I wouldn't be spouting surprising stuff if you told your family anything like you promised me you would!"

"It's not that I don't try, Naruto! They-no one ever listens to me. You know that."

"Well, How am I supposed to know what important stuff you've told them and what you haven't? It's your fault you know! I'm not like Ino! I don't have a mind reading jutsu!"

"Look." Sasuke pinched the bridge of his nose. "From here on out, let's just assume they know nothing. Pretend I haven't told them about a single mission we've ever been on. Not one. Not even anything about the chunin exams. Not a single detail. Got it?"

"If that's what you want." Sakura frowned at him.

"Yeah, but Sasuke...even waves?" Naruto couldn't stop the question from coming out.

"Especially waves." Sasuke replied. "It was just a stupid c rank."

"Just a stupid...so what you just came home with a sharingan one day and no one cared to ask for the details? You told them you got your eyes on a mission and that was that, c rank boring, moving on to something Itachi did that day?"

From the look on Sasuke's face that was exactly what had happened. Because that was what always happened.

Itachi felt a sudden fresh wave of guilt hit him. Sasuke hadn't seemed super excited about unlocking his sharingan. Not outwardly anyways. Sasuke seemed pretty down when he tried to bring it up during dinner that day. He remembered the tragedy of unlocking his own. He assumed it would have been easier for him not to want to talk about it. He had certainly never wanted his fathers praise for it. His eye carried the weight of a friends death. He didn't want Sasuke to have to deal with that too. He'd been the one to steer the conversation off of Sasuke that day. Had his little brother actually wanted to be congratulated? Itachi clenched his fist tight around his kunai.

"It's not that big of a deal. Itachi got his when he was 8. Mine came in late....Drop it, Naruto."

"No."

"No?" Sasuke arched a brow.

"No." Naruto glared, crossing his arms. "Not til you stop that minimizing bullshit. The things you do matter."

"Naruto, I almost got my head taken off. I'm not in the mood right now. Just...just shut up. Please. We're in enough trouble as it is."

"We're talking about this later. Lengthily."

"Fine." Sasuke bristled. "Whatever."
Sasuke was quiet for a moment. "I love you."

"Again? That's nice of you."

"Naruto."

"Fine. Fine. I love you too." The blonde shook his head. "You're so sensitive."

"I'll kill you before any of these anbu get the chance."

"See? That's what I mean. One little comment and you want to end me."

Sakura smiled at the boys banter. Some things would never change. Even in a theater filled with Anbu who wanted to slay one of the loves of her life.

Jounin sought to protect their genin as The whole Uchiha clan scuffled with Danzo's root. Meanwhile the fight on the ceiling was still raging on. Fugaku blasted Danzo with a menacing fireball, and the man barely kept his footing.

As long as Danzo was in this theater with them Sasuke wasn't safe. With that in mind Kakashi Kamui'd Danzo away. Obito frowned among the sea of scattered Uchiha. That wouldn't work like Kakashi thought it was going to. Surely enough Danzo was transported right back. Obito cursed, he hated that he'd been right.

"The rooms keeping him alive." Minato wrongfully observed. Danzo had discreetly used Izanagi, but because he couldn't see the sharingan under the bandages in his head the head of root was safe from suspicion for now.

"And we can't teleport him away." Kakashi complained on one knee now. "What do we do? Tie him to a chair and genjutsu the hell out of him?"

"It would seem it's our only option for now." Minato frowned regretfully. "I'll get Kurenai-"

"No." Fugaku denied. "Let Itachi do it."

"Just this once I'm agreeing with you." Kakashi nodded. "Minato, Itachi's better suited for this. Trust me." Itachi would leave Danzo in a time space genjutsu for a millennia.

"Very well, but if you all could please hurry." Lord third pleaded as he held his old friend in a choke hold.

"Ah yes." Minato sweat dropped. "Sorry about that." Minato threw a kunai by his son's feet and he was back with Itachi in a flash. Itachi happily trapped Danzo in the most horrific torturous genjutsu that he could imagine. He let all his guilt and rage pour into it. No one hurts his baby brother. No one.

"It's done." Itachi retracted his sharingan. With Danzo momentarily defeated all of his root anbu stood down.

"Good." Kakashi straightened up. He turned to Fugaku and Minato. "Now then. I think it's time for a talk."

Woo! And that's where this chapter ends.  Sorry it took me forever to get it done,  I was just at a cross roads about where I wanted it to go. I still sort of am but I've decided I'm leaving it up for you readers to decide!! The characters are all still going to react to the rest of this chapter and the rest of EBNB like that's the point of this story but I thought it would be fun to stray into some uncharted territory for a little bit. Next chapter everyone is gonna have a little chat and eat and sleep and stuff but the chapter after that they're going to watch something different because it's my story and I can do what I want-
