Ch 5: Rest is Needed

"Don't underestimate the Uchiha loser. "

"Now I know you're just making up bullshit." Naruto fumed at him. "You're going to be a dead Uchiha by the time your Itachi's age if you don't stop bitching about getting medical attention. It makes no sense for me to get it first. Name one good reason."

"You're the fourth hokage's son."

"More bullshit. Sakura what drugs did you put ke on? He's spouting nothing but nonsense."

"Actually he's not on anything. Couldn't risk upsetting his heart by introducing anything too foreign into his body."

"It's not nonsense, moron it'-" Sasuke shut his eyes. He put his hand on his chest over his heart. He shut his eyes tighter. His chest throbbed sharply, he felt like he'd just gotten chidori'd and there was someone deliberately squeezing the muscle. Sakura's eyes jumped to the heart monitor as she saw it spike. She tensed ready to spring. If his heart failed again...

Mikoto gripped her husbands hand. Scared for her son. She didn't know if she could take watching him almost die again on screen like he had. She wished she had Sasuke sitting next to her. She didn't understand why her youngest wouldn't just come be with her and his father. They were his family. He should be with them.

"It doesn't have to make sense." He decided with finality. His sharingan was blazing in his eyes as he opened them again. He looked to his teammates with the most crushed expression either had ever witnessed on his face. He was like a fall leaf that had lost its color and would break at the slightest touch. "I love you, Naruto, you and Sakura. Now I'm fucking losing both of you I-." Time seemed to slow in that little hospital room. His eyes shifted, the mangekyou swirled in his eyes. A straight lined pattern that hadn't been seen in the clan for generations, not since Madara himself, shone red and brilliant in Sasuke's eyes. Blood dripped down in place of his tears.

Sasuke knew he was in trouble the second he saw his eyes change on that screen. The second his love confession left his mouth. But never had he expected to lose his life for it. He almost had. If it had not been for his Sensei's spot on protective instincts stopping Danzo's wind chakra coated kunai with a well timed chidori, his head would be rolling around on the floor. He had a small slice in his shoulder close to his curse mark spot from where the blades tip had pierced his skin, but other than the superficial wound he was unharmed.

"What made you think you could kill him in front of me?" Kakashi snarled, his hand closed around Danzo's sword. "Not my kid. Not on my watch. Not one hair. I'll make you regret you ever dared." Kakashi's chidori shattered Danzo's kunai to pieces. Even though wind nature is naturally stronger than lightning, Kakashi's rage was greater and gave his chakra an extra bit of oomph it needed.

The root leader stumbled back. Kunai pieces embedding themselves in his sharingan less arm. His knees bent and he stood his ground. He'd flipped to squat on the ceiling. Kakashi had reacted faster than he anticipated. A costly miscalculation. No matter. He could still end the Uchiha boy before the village had another Madara to deal with.

"Sasuke." His sensei's voice was calm, barely. His headband pushed up over his eye."Get back. He's after you. I need you out of the way. Naruto, Sakura, that includes you. Stay together. Be on guard. His subordinates could follow his lead at any moment. Go now."

As he heard Kakashi's order, Sasuke's body moved to follow it instantaneously. He took Sakura and Naruto right with him in a tangle of limbs and pulled clothes. Sakura had her fists clenched and Naruto had his kyubi claws drawn and ready to slash. His own personal protective detail at his back as they moved away from the adults into a more open space closer to the screen where the chairs wouldn't box them in. Shisui and Itachi went with them but team 7 straight up ignored them. Wedging into their manji formation so tightly that if there was a bug between them it would have been squashed.
