Chapter 10: Pervy & The Bitter Tea

Start from the beginning

Ayato carefully observed Hisashi's body language, "I see...very well, we'll depart to Ritou soon. You may leave Hisashi."

"Yes, my lord!"
And with that, Hisashi from the Shuumatsuban organization quietly left Ayato's office.
You started asking Ayato more about the Shuumatsuban.

He started walking back and forth, "Uhh how do I say this. It's a private organization under the Yashiro Commission."

"Uh-huh, does the Tenryou and Kanjou Commissions know about this?"

"No...only the Yashiro Commission knows. Everything involving the Shuumatsuban is highly classified."

Y/n walked up to Ayato, her fingers crawling up his chest, "Well..." she grinned, "do they also know how..."

Ayato grabbed your hand, his eyebrow furrowed.

"Do they know...how much of a perv you are!" You squealed, trying to escape Ayato's grip.

"Why you-" His flustered face said it all, "my, I suppose I shouldn't give you the antidote."

"What antidote?"

"The one antidote to remove your dog ears." He giggled.

Y/n felt embarrassed, she shifted her glance away from Ayato. "Gimme the antidote Ayato." She pouted.

"Hmm...what if I say no~"Ayato started teasing y/n.
You kept pouting until he finally gave up, giving you the antidote.

Ah much better, I no longer have to walk around as the commissioner's wife that has silly dog ears.

Soon the departure to Ritou leads you into opening up to Ayato, telling him many fond memories of when Miko would do many similar pranks on you and the shogun.

"Oh like this one time, Miko thought it would be a great idea to bring a giant spider into the bedroom." Your hands flew all over the place trying to describe how huge the spider was, "It was so scary I couldn't sleep for days."
You paused, taking a deep breath, "Did I mention how hairy it was!? I think I called it Daddy long-haired spider or Daddy long legs or something like that."

—Ayato's P.O.V—

I kept listening to y/n's childhood memories. She sure had an interesting childhood and that fox was sure unpredictable.

The way y/n talks back about her memories made me feel all warm inside, I couldn't help but smile brightly the entire time.

"Do you like spiders y/n?"  I moved a little closer to her, holding the umbrella as we walked in the streets of Ritou.
I steadily observed every reaction I could get from her.

"Absolutely not! Didn't I just tell you that I couldn't sleep for days cause of what Miko did?"

I couldn't help but chuckle at her. "Indeed you did."

Maybe I should one day bring a spider as a gift for you, y/n.
It'll be my little revenge since you keep calling me a perv.

—End Of Ayato's P.O.V—

Ayato and y/n finally made it to the Hiiragi estate where they will soon be meeting with the Kanjou Commissioner.

"Hey...why did the commissioner invite us over all of a sudden?" You whispered.

"...no idea."

"Ah welcome my dear guests." Hiiragi Shinsuke announced, slightly bowing as he held his umbrella in hopes of trying to reduce getting rained on. "Please, do come inside."

A servant of the Hiiragi clan brought us tea as Shinsuke started blabbering about how hard it must be for y/n that she married someone she had no relations with.

You felt unease as the more the wretched snake kept hissing.

"After all, love is a sacred thing. It is a shame that your future is a bittersweet one rather than a beautiful one." He placed down his teacup, "Oh dear, was I intruding too much?"

You held Ayato's hand, making small circles with your thumb, "Commissioner, I wouldn't assume such fraud assumptions about my relationship with my husband." You stated, "It is true that my marriage was certainly...unexpected but it was for the good of Inazuma. After all, we are the almighty Shogun's servants. A sacrifice like this was much needed."

"I see..." Shinsuke drank his tea quietly, unable to combat y/n's answer.

Ayato finally spoke up, "Kanjou Commissioner, have you heard of the extraordinary bird with a long tongue? They say the longest tongue has most to say but don't be deceived as it chirps away."

Shinsuke immediately felt intimated,
"Are you making a total mockery out of me Yashiro Commissioner?"

"Not at all." Ayato shrugged.

You cleared your throat in hopes of trying to take over, "Needless to say, I strongly believe my future with my beloved husband will not be bittersweet, rather, it'll be a prosperous one. Without further due, I believe it is best we end it here." You stood up with Ayato, bowing before heading out.

"Oh and one more thing, the tea was overly bitter, perhaps it would be best if you worry about your own matters."
