Unknown POV

"Idiota!", a fierce voice and even fiercer backhand rattled my head. As if I already didn't feel worthless enough, this only added to my hollow feeling. Basura, that's what I am now. Never good enough for anyone.

More bitter words were being spat over my shoulder but I couldn't tear my eyes off of the chicken scratches on pressed paper in front of me. Lo siento...

'Nothing else in my life made sense until you filled the spaces of my heart I had long forgotten. I promise to be that man that you deserve and dreamed of, every minute of every hour. Time won't touch us, as I follow you into the sky when you go.. Para la eternidad.'

Para la eternidad... This was an unbreakable bond. Maybe that's why I failed the first time during the eclipse. I wish they'd just let me stop. My body and soul already felt consumed by their greed, forcing me to try again.

"Mierda! Are you listening?!", weathered scrawny fingers slammed their fist onto the wooden table, shaking everything atop it. No, I'm not listening. I could really care less at this point.

"Your madre would be ashamed if she could see you now. I can't believe my own flesh and blood gave birth to this.." Pretty sure an angry hand just gestured to all of me. They can both go to hell. I'll see them there I'm sure. Can't wait for that day..

"It won't work. They're too strong together. You saw what happened...", swallowing my own pride and admitting that actually made me feel better. I hope this one doesn't work either. I don't even want him. It's all them, like it's always been. Dark whispers in my ear, playing the strings to my puppet.

"Duh. That's why you're supposed to focus this one on his future. Erase it.", the deep baritone voice behind my other shoulder mocked.

"Let it take his next child.", a disgusting hot breath grinned, leaning over to see the items on the table.

This.. this was wrong. This was exactly why I ran last time, hoping to get away from them when they had planned to use me against their unborn son. I'm not that kind of monster. I refuse to be. Or am I?

"Write it!", another slap to the back of my head, forcing me lower to the floor. So close to the table, his scent from the parchment wafted up, making me hold back a tear. Lo siento... Lo siento...

The pen in my hand trembled as I wrote the words down on the blank page beside his filled one.

'This will be the last gift you are given, the magic ends with them.'

A wet droplet soaked into the paper where my ugly handwriting stared back at me. Lo siento...

Please, if there is a God, don't let this work. Let it take me instead. Free me... Please.

"ERTHA!" My tía's spiteful tone was beginning to rage, impatiently digging her nails into my shoulders.

"Do it.", Nacio commanded.

My broken soul watched my own hands twine Bruno's vows around the lit candle, binding his famiilia to this spell.

Please. Don't. Work.
