"How's the restaurant going?" tanong ng Mom ko habang kumakain kami ng dinner. Inikot niya ang tingin sa loob ng restaurant. I've only had it for a year kaya it still looks and feels brand new to me.
I placed my knife and fork down to take a sip from my wine glass. "Doing great."
"Good to hear," Mom said without looking at me. Ilang minuto ang lumipas na tahimik lang kaming kumakain. "This steak is really good, son."
"'Came straight from Japan this afternoon," tugon ko.
"Mmmh," ani niya habang tumatangu-tango. She really looked like she's enjoying the food. That's good. "That's as premium as it gets. No doubt you're doing so well."
"Thanks," I said, trying to hide a smile.
Just when I thought this night would go without my mom mentioning things that'd spoil the mood, she put her utensils down and asked, "So, are you dating someone?"
"Mom," nakasimangot kong turan.
"Bakit? Am I not supposed to ask?" tanong niya. "Don't tell me you're still hung up on that girl. It's been six months, Dawn."
Here we go again.
Kailan ba niya ako titigilang usisain tungkol dyan? This is why I rarely talk to her. She always find ways to give me a hard time.
"I don't wanna talk about this, okay? Can we just enjoy our dinner for once?" inis kong tanong.
She rolled her eyes. "I'm just saying, you have to think about your future. Hindi ka na bumabata. You need to find someone... someone better."
Her last word made my ears ring. I clenched my jaw to hide my anger.
"Oh whatever," she sighed dismissively. "Basta hindi 'yung babaeng 'yon. You can marry a damn tree for all I care."
Hindi ko napigilan ang sarili at tumayo na ako. Hindi ko na kayang umupo dito at patuloy na makinig habang nilalait niya si Agatha.
"I'm going," I said before walking away. Pero bago pa ako nakalayo, she still found a way to officially ruin my night.
"You acting like a brat wouldn't change the fact that she left you, Dawn." Every word turned into daggers digging into my chest. "Learn to move on and live your life. Everyone knows you're better off without her."
Hindi na ako lumingon. Dire-diretso akong naglakad palabas ng restaurant. Hindi ko nga alam kung saan pupunta. This place is all I go to simula nang umalis siya.
But she'll be back. Nangako siya sa akin. And I believe her. Kaya kahit ano pang sabihin nila,
I will wait for her.

"Ate!!" narinig kong sigaw ni Aya habang kumakatok sa pinto ng condo ko. "Ate!"
Tumayo ako pagkatapos nang isang malalim na buntong-hininga. Hays. Ito na naman po siya. Mangungulit sa kalagitnaan ng ginagawa ko.
Pinunasan ko ang kamay ko ng tuwalya bago binuksan ang pinto.
"Aya, tanghaling tapat. Anong ginagawa mo dito?" Diretso siyang pumasok sa loob as usual. "Wala ka bang pasok?"
