prologue.
"Surrender!" said a distorted voice. A girl stood three feet away from the edge of a tall and rigid cliff. She was about sixteen years old, with brown hair tied back into a short, straight ponytail. She was holding a sword, and wore gear of an ancient knight. She stood still, blood, sweat, and tears dripping down her face. She dropped the sword and faced the distorted voice. The voice wasn't a person, rather a dark cloud in the rainy thunderstorm. Lightning struck on the top tower adjacent to the cliff.
"You have not fulfilled the task I asked of you.", groaned the distorted voice.
"Well, you have to give me credit, at least I tried." The distorted voice growled aggressively.
"I don't care how much you tried! You didn't succeed to kill it off! You are going to face serious karma for this. Give me your sword." The cloud swept down and morphed into a human-like hand. The girl reluctantly picked the sword up from the ragged edge of the cliff and handed it to the dark cloud, who immediately rose back up into the sky.
"Punishment is among you, Adelaide. Now the whole curse will spread amongst the town. Not for another 50 years, but be aware. It will come again. Just you wait." Adelaide shivered.
"Live your life. Have children, get a husband. I don't care what you do. But just know that I will be keeping my eye on you. 50 years is a long time, but trust me, time goes fast. Be aware for it. I am not sure what form it might come in, but keep your eyes peeled." The distorted voice started to fade.
"How will I know though?" Adelaide said through the loud thunderclaps.
"Oh trust me", the distorted voice said, "You will know." The claps of thunder subsided and the distorted voice faded away.
