There was an air of awkwardness floating all over our sala. My parents were tight lipped while staring at Evry.
Mom was curiously staring at him while my father was silently studying him like a specimen in a microscope.

My father is as gentle as a bird, not the intimidating type like the common portrayal of fathers when their daughter is presenting them their suitors. He's friendly and courteous but also wary.
Growing up, he was my ideal man. Yung hindi pala sigaw at kapag nagagalit ay alam niya kung paano iyon i-handle in a way that it won't give us emotional anxiety. Kaya ko nagustuhan si Izaak noon, they're very alike. Hindi mahilig uminom dahil parehong mababa ang alcohol tolerance, they're gentle and always humble.

"Opo, I'll be graduating this sem, auntie." He's so polite and respectful today, huh?
"Ano ba ang course mo?"
"I'm taking a BS in Chemistry major in materials chemistry."
"Chemistry? Matalino ka siguro," may pagbibiro na sabi ni mommy.
"Hindi naman po, sakto lang," then he smiled shyly.
Kinagat ko ang pang-ibabang labi para pigilan ang tawang nais kumawala. Siguro kapag kaming dalawa lang ay hindi ganyan ang sasabihin niya. He will surely brag how smart he is to be able to enter their college in the first place.
"Ay, huwag ka ngang ganyan at naiilang ang bata," kunway sita ni daddy. "Sabi mo kamo ay nililigawan mo si Shyleen, bakit mo siya gustong ligawan?"
Daddy, ano ba namang klaseng tanong iyan? Of course, there's a lot of reason para ligawan ako.
