Chapter 27 - Bouquet

~ 3rd Person POV ~
"who were you on the phone with earlier daddy?" Ashley asked rubbing her eye as the two ate New Years dinner
"Mr. Ketchum" Gary smiled taking a bite of his carrots
"oh are we going over there tonight?" Ashley blinked
"not sure I don't want to disturb him" Gary murmured cutting his steak
"oh" Ashley blinked and ate her mashed potatoes

"but it's New Years I don't think it would be disturbing him" Ashley blinked
"I know sweetheart but we're not exactly ready to go out" Gary chuckled pointing out that the two were wearing lazy clothes
"but we can easily just change" Ashley blinked making Gary chuckle
"let's not forget we haven't even done our hair" Gary chuckled since the two had messy hair
"it's why you have to learn to do hair daddy" Ashley giggled eating her mashed potatoes

"I know I know, I'm working on it" Gary chuckled once more making Ashley giggle once more
"are you going to at least call Mr. Ketchum??" Ashley then asked
"yes I will once it's 12:00 A.M" Gary smiled checking his watch
"what will you do if he chooses Paul over you?"
"I-I won't be mad" Gary said furrowing his eyebrows lightly

"I want the best for Mr. Ketchum and if he thinks I'm not the best for him then so be it" the man said softly trying to not admit the thought made him feel pretty hurt
"either way my happiness isn't at the top of my list it's yours" Gary smiled pinching his daughter's cheek making her smile lightly
"but I want you to be happy too" Ashley then said

"oh don't worry honey, if you're happy I assure you that daddy will be happy as well" Gary smiled picking up the extra plates on the table while his daughter smiled back finishing up her New Years dinner

"is the dinner good pumpkin? Besides hair I'm not so good in the kitchen either" the man chuckled
"it's really good daddy!! I love the potatoes" she commented happily stuffing her face
"I'm glad" Gary grinned and turned to her with a smile
"did you like the food you made?" the girl pondered
"yeah. it was fine, although I prefer Crystal's cooking" Gary grinned once more as Ashley shrugged not giving her preference of cooking

"3, 2, 1!" Ash counted down as him and family then made a toast for a good year, once his mom and Reggie left to get grapes Ash and Paul smiled at each other gave each other a passionate kiss as they had promised before
"you're so lovely" Ash giggled as the two looked at each other in the eyes
"you're even more" Paul said as the two kissed each other once more until their names were called which made them pull back

"here's the grapes, for good luck" Reggie chuckled with a bowl of grapes as they all ate their 12 grapes

Meanwhile Gary checked the time and saw it was 12:00 A.M and smiled with Ashley sleeping in his arms
"Happy New Year sweetheart, i love you so much" Gary whispered kissing her forehead before sighing and opened a drawer where he had his and Angie's wedding picture staring at it for a bit just smiling lightly seeing Angie's long black hair and it was curled with white flowers in it and touched her cheek with his thumb lightly

"Happy New Year love, keep blessing our little girl and I, I love you always" Gary said feeling his eyes getting watery before blinking the supposed tears away and putting the photo aside and holding Ashley tightly
"three years" Gary mumbled to himself referring to his wife's death
"I miss you"

Ash excused himself and made a phone call to Gary
"hey Gary" Ash said with a smile after Gary picked up the phone
"oh hey" Gary smiled racking Ashley's hair
"happy New Year!" Ash then chimed with a giggle causing Gary to grin
"happy New Year, i wish you the best" Gary smiled
"thank you, that's sweet, I wish you the best as well" Ash smiled

– Time Skip A Couple Weeks –

A couple weeks came by and Ash prepared himself for Mallow's wedding putting on a pair of white pants with a beige color wing sleeve blouse shirt a matching beige headband with a tiny bow in it's side and brushed his bangs that naturally went over his forehead and smiled posing in the mirror before going to Paul who was also getting ready
"hey are you almost ready??" Ash said sweetly going into the room while Paul was changing
"Ash! Privacy!" he complained quickly getting his pants wrestling into them and getting his black turtleneck shirt
