he woke up a lot earlier than the blonde, he could tell she was sleeping peacefully for the first time in a while so decided not to startle her.

he had woken up to his arms wrapped around her slender figure. how was he going to explain this to her when she woke up?

he hoped she wouldn't wake up from him removing his arms from her and luckily the blonde remained asleep

he decided to get out of bed and change into his normal attire. he then proceeded downstairs into the kitchen, only to realise the date. today was her birthday

he began to prepare her some breakfast. he wanted to make it perfect. he wanted her to notice how he had remembered after all these years

once he finished making the food he placed it on a tray to take up to the bedroom. by the time he had got up there, jean had already woken up. thank god, he didn't want to startle her after all

he opened the door "good morning jean, i made you breakfast"

"why thank you" she said sleepily as she sat upright

"it's my pleasure" he smiled slightly

she began to eat what he had prepared for her and he was worried she wouldn't enjoy it, but she did enjoy it very much

"say, do you have any plans today? it is a special day after all" he asked

"is that so? i don't recall today being a special occasion.. though i don't really have any plans other than getting back to work" she responded in confusion

"no work today miss, i can't let you do that" he said, slightly worried she would actually go ahead with her plan

"why not?" she said, more confused than before

"because today is a day for you to relax, so i'll make sure you relax" he stated

"whatever you say"

he was slightly concerned that he had messed up the date of her birthday or if she had genuinely forgotten, though he couldn't figure out which

all he could do is worry internally about it. he really hoped he hadn't messed everything up and forgotten or that he was a day late

jean had finished eating. she really liked dilucs cooking

"thank you for the food, it was really lovely. you never told me you were a chef" she complimented

"you're welcome. i'll take that for you, get changed and come downstairs when you're ready, i have a surprise for you" he said as he proceeded downstairs with the tray

she changed back into her clothes and folded up the ones she had borrowed from diluc. she went to meet him downstairs as instructed

"are you ready?" he enquired

she gave a confused nod and he lead her outside. the two began walking, diluc leading the way

"so, where are we heading?" the extremely confused blonde asked

"you'll see" he took her hand and remained secretive

she noticed but she couldn't process the words to point it out. she could feel her face growing redder by the second

after a long walk, they had finally reached liyue. he wanted to take her here for a change of scenery. he knew she was always in mondstadt and that she'd never have the chance back at work to take time off to indulge in personal desires such as travelling and seeing new things

"wow, the view is simply breathtaking.." she remarked "thank you for bringing me here"

"it's quite lovely isn't it? i quite like it here" he said
