I suck at writing romance books and to be honest I wrote this story ten years ago. It's not the best, but I am posting it on here because it's embarassingly sappy and hopefully you can see how far I have come as a writer if you compare to some of my other works.

The idea of this story came from several people that I met. I spent a year living in Mexico and met several ex-cartel members. It was intriguing to hear their experiences, stories, and the dangerous peril they faced in their lives. It was fascinating to hear stories about murder from some of the most soft spoken well mannered people I have ever met.

The main characters are based off of these people and actually a character I met while working at a 24 hour diner. Again, a well mannered soft spoken gentleman used to sit in my section and order the same every week, stuffed french toast. He always tipped well and didn't engage in small talk, he was there to eat and not be bothered. It took about a year to finally hear his story, he was a drug dealer, not by choice, but because it was all he knew. His mother was a prostitute, he never knew his dad, his mom died when he was young, she was murdered. They had found her body discarded in a dumpster. He grew up selling drugs to support himself after he escaped the abuse he sustained in foster care.

This story is dedicated to him and to the friends I made in Mexico. You are a product of your environment, but it's never too late to choose to rise above and break free from the abuse.

This story isn't really a romance not really an action either.  There are lots of thematic and mature content in here. The story is graphic at times because it portrays the unglamorous but true side of the cartel.
