T W O — F E A R L E S S

"we're drivin' down the road, i wonder if you know i'm tryin' so hard not to get caught up now."

---

Not even 15 minutes later, we arrived at McKay's. Immediately everyone went in different directions, each on their own mission. Maddy had run off to find a random person to make Nate angry with. BB had gone upstairs to smoke, Kat ended up in a different room talking to a few different guys, and Rue had gone in search of the bathroom, leaving me to sit alone awkwardly on one of the couches by the pool. It was clear that everyone was drunk or high, and I had to admit I felt wildly out of place amongst the rowdy teens. I almost considered leaving before I spotted Fez making his way through a crowd — seemingly coming toward me.

I was proved to be correct when stopped in front of me, giving me a wide smile. "Look who it is. How you doin', Sophia?"

"I'm good, really good." The smile I gave him in return seemed to be exactly what he was waiting for as he immediately sat down next to me, so close that our shoulders brushed.

"You sure? I don't mean to call you out and shit, but you look really uncomfortable over here by yourself." He said matter-of-factly, giving me a soft stare. "You ain't come here alone, did you?"

"No but uh, all my friends ran off." I blushed lightly. "Parties aren't really my thing." Way to go, Sophia. He probably thinks you're a loser.

"Word? I guess I knew that from when I met you; this don't really seem like your scene." His comment that he made to Rue immediately came to mind. With a sudden burst of confidence, I turned toward him.

"Yeah? Was it my pretty eyes or my innocent smile that tipped you off?" I teased softly. He chuckled softly and bit his lip, shaking his head.

"Both. I guess it's just somethin' about you that screams 'good girl', you know?"

"I'm not really sure if I should be offended by that or complimented." I laughed. He met my gaze, a cheeky smirk playing on his lips.

"Shit, to be honest with you, I like good girls." I felt blood rush to my cheeks, forcing me to look toward the couch. Was that supposed to be sexual? It felt very sexual, and oddly, it also felt really good. "Look, now you blushin'." He pointed out, his hand falling on my thigh. I eyed it for a moment but said nothing.

"Was that an innuendo?" The thought made my heart race.

"Do you want it to be?" His eyes met mine once more. My face remained hot, but I was determined to come off as confident, even if he made me nervous.

"Maybe." It was clear my answer got to him as he licked his lips, pulling my attention toward them. I sat quietly as he slowly moved his eyes up and down my body, taking it in in its entirety.

"Fuck, you look good, Soph." Soph— A nickname I had been called for my entire life, but it never made me feel the way it did when Fezco said it.

"Am I being punked? Are you punking me right now?" I blurted out. "Cause it kinda feels like you are. Is this a prank?"

"Uh, no?" His answer came out as more of a question. "What makes you say that?" I didn't get to answer as Rue flopped down on the other end of the couch, seemingly high as she lit a blunt and began to smoke.

"What the fuck, Rue?" Fez asked, removing his hand from my thigh. Oddly, I felt empty at the sudden lack of touch.

"What? What, what, what, what, what?" She mumbled.
