Chapter 1: You can go like this...

Start from the beginning

"Get out of my house!" I ordered, absolutely done with them.

"Oh... but we came all this way to apologize and you throw us out like that?"

"Apologize?" I asked a little thrown off guard before regaining my stance. "For breaking into my house?"

"The door was open so we didn't technically break in." The white-haired weirdo clarified. "No, we just realised we might have been somewhat creepy yesterday and so we wanted to make it up to you. This was no way to deal with anyone, especially not a child on their own. We even made pancakes!"

   "Get out." I plainly stated.

Psyche pulled a weird sad face and I was even further weirded out how accurately they turned their mouth into a lying three. What's up with this person...?

"Even after we rolled up your shutters and made your bed?" They asked.

Shocked I turned my head toward my bed and realised, that they had indeed made my bed. "Absolutely!"

   "But... but we made pancakes...!"

   "Get out!"

"You're so mean, Hector." Psyche grinned brightly, no trace left of their sad face. "But we get it. We also wouldn't want someone to do things for us without them asking for our permission first. Good on you for standing your ground." Their eyes wandered toward the knife. "Next time however take a hammer. A hammer can be used by even the most inexperienced fighters out there and is way more effective against house invaders... at least in places where not every child and their mother can have a gun..."

Confused I looked up at them as they just gave me a bright smile. I didn't know what to say. This shift in their tone and body language had happened too fast for me to keep up with. Even when they picked up one of my darts and landed a bull's eye on the board I couldn't even feel surprised.

"That reminds us..." Their hand suddenly vanished in the black fur around their neck. "We've got something for you. Hand out!"

Even more confused my empty hand nearly moved on its own. Psyche pulled something out of the fur and placed something smooth and yet bendable in my stretched out hand. My eyes widened as I spotted what they had placed in it. The black glass shone in the light of the ceiling lamp as the rest of the yellow and black materials also seemed to radiate light all by themselves. My swimming glasses!

Where did they...? The front door opened and before I could stop myself I whirled around. "Wait!" I yelled after them and sprinted into the corridor. Psyche stood there, already half way through the door frame. Their eyes were wide and blinked at me in confusion. We stood there for a moment, staring at each other in silence. The longer this went on, I realised that they were waiting for me to say something. A little embarrassed I stood up straight, Psyche's eyes following me.

"T...thank you." I put that out of the way first. "But how did you get these... and how did you even know that these belong to me?"

"This might be a little... uh... weird." Psyche laughed slightly embarrassed, turning fully to me. "But we have seen you walking around earlier yesterday and saw that you lost them while running away from the taller one. Then we just followed you around... yesterday was not a day of our brightest ideas so we apologise for that."

I looked at them. Visibly freaked out from what they had done and told me. Then my gaze wandered back to my swimming goggles. Relief filled my chest as my grip around them tightened. I felt my sight getting blurry but I didn't want to tear up in front of the weirdo so I just turned around.
