Chapter 53: Bad Feeling

Start from the beginning

He couldn't bear to lose one more woman he treasured in life.

He knows he failed as a father.

So he should at least make it up to his actions.

He stood up straight and took a sip of his wine before placing it down on his desk.

"Send our men to her location. Protect her at all costs and make sure to bring her back here alive and well or I'll deal with them, myself." He, then turned to Gabriel with a serious look and with an authorative voice, he commanded. "She's still L/N's heiress so you better do your job well."

Gabriel's eyes widen in surprise at the sudden change of mind of Y/N's father. But it made him feel relieved that he still cares for his daughter in some way. So with an excuse bow, he made his way out of his office, immediately contacting the other men of L/N.

As soon as he was left alone, the middle aged man turned back around to the window, watching the backyard that felt empty without the girl who used to train there everyday.

In the corner of his eye, he spot a picture frame of his wife together with her daughter. He couldn't help but feel saddened in thinking that once again, his wrong decision hurt the ones he loved the most.

"We'll see each other soon, my dear."

The sun had just risen that woke up the girl early in the morning. Unexpectedly, the place seemed too silent when she's already used to hearing the man working this early.

"Waka?" She called out while rubbing her eyes to adjust her vision. She's now walking around the place carefully, looking for the man but there was still no sign of him around. "Wakasa." She called out once again.. and still there was no response.

As her eyes landed on the table, a set of food pleased her eyes. But she immediately knew what's behind it and instead of a pleased reaction, her expression fell into a frown.

Sighing, she rubbed the back of her head, sulking at the man's actions.

"Geez, did he really have to leave without even saying goodbye?" She pouted while sitting down with a grunt when she felt pain shot through her sprained ankle.

The whole time, Y/N was only spreading her food on her plate and bringing it back together again. To put it simply, she's just playing with her food like a child on tantrum. She doesn't feel much appetite at the moment as she's too busy attending to her thoughts.

"Come to think of it, he really looks awkward yesterday..." she talked to herself, remembering Wakasa's behavior as she shoved food in her mouth. She felt her appetite decrease as the insides of her stomach started to twist uncomfortably in anxiousness. It was so hard for her to ignore the man's awkward behavior that obviously tells her that he doesn't know what to say or how to interact properly with her anymore after what happened. When she placed down the chopsticks, she can't help but think to herself, looking down at her her emptied plate. She couldn't help but ask herself.

"Did I make him uncomfortable with that confession?" Y/N's eyes started to sting, feeling tears threatening to fall due to her thoughts. Slowly, she's starting to stress out and regret ever confessing to him, thinking she made the wrong decision of giving in.

"Stupid." She leaned on the chair and rested her head on the headrest, covering her eyes with her arm. Feeling emotional at her current situation, tears tickled down her face to the side as she whispered to herself with a croaked voice.

"What was I expecting anyway?"

"Waka!!" The three welcomed their old friend who just came after his ride back to Tokyo.
