Tempest Part 2

"Oh give it a rest. You're not gonna kill me." You rolled your eyes and began to walk away from him, knowing he would follow. The two of you walked through the forest until you found a building. The entire way there he talked about how he promised he wouldn't hesitate to kill you if he had to. You just shrugged.

The building was right outside the forest, by itself. It looked abandoned, but not for a long time. Above the door was a faded ice cream cone.

"Ooooo, do you think this is an ice cream shop?" You swung the door open and noticed the power was still working. "It looks like someone's been here recently."

"Yeah, we'd better be careful." Val began to open the freezers behind the front counter, observing if there was any ice cream. "What the hell is this place doing in the middle of nowhere?"

You searched the freezers with him and to your surprise, they were filled with all kinds of different ice cream sandwiches and cones. "Who cares, this is perfect!" You grabbed an ice cream sandwich and began to sit down in the closest chair.

He followed your lead and sat down, with his ice cream in hand. "Did you get the notification earlier? About Eve.." He kept his eyes off of you, trying to be serious.

"Yeah, it was me who did it." You decided not to tell him the complete truth, "I killed her."

He looked up at you in complete disbelief, "No you did not."

"I did."

"I don't believe you."

"Why the hell not?" You sat up in your chair.

"Because you two liked each other too much. There's just no way." He shook his head and continued to eat his ice cream. You could tell he was upset about Eve's 'death'. The three of you were extremely close, like your own little family. The more you thought about it, the more you wanted to tell him the truth. Maybe the three of you could get out of this together.

But Val was different from Eve, he was set on being an elite soldier. There was no doubt about that. He would never want to leave, he wants to win.

"She attacked me, Val. I could tell she didn't want to— but I had no choice but to defend myself." You looked down, attempting to look sad and make him believe you.

"Shit. I'm sorry. That must be tough." It worked. It was weird seeing him be so serious, he must have really cared for her. "But what's more unbelievable is that you could win in a fight against her." There was the Val you knew.

"Oh fuck off." You took the last bite of your ice cream and dropped the wrapper on the floor. "I could beat any of you, I was looking weak on purpose."

"Yeah right!" He laughed, finishing off his ice cream too.

"You'll see. Then you'll be wishing you killed me when you had the chance." You winked at him.

Before he could make a jab back at you, the front door swung open. The both of you got up in defense instantly. At the door were two of your peers, Joanna and Sawada. The two of them were not a part of the main group, but they were always together.

Joanna had black short hair with grey eyes, she almost looked like a girl version of Chrollo. She was of average height and always had a very serious expression. All of her features were very defined. She had no special nen abilities that you were aware of, but she was very smart. Sawada had white hair that you always thought looked cool, his eyes were a greenish-blue color that complimented it well. Sawada also had no special nen abilities but was very skilled in combat. Their abilities and features complemented each other very well as a couple.

"That's quite a way to make an introduction." Val was unbothered by their attempt to be intimidating.

"You guys sure are loud and nonchalant for people who are in a killing game. And you both suck." Joanna dissed the both of you. She stood with her arms crossed, it was obvious they both thought they were better than the both of you.
