14一 there's darkness in my sight

ASHIDO MINA WAS USED TO TAKING care of little kids, what with being a part-time babysitter to make some money to add to her savings. She'd picked up the job after realizing that she had the uncanny ability to blow through her monthly allowance in just two weeks. It wasn't that she was doing anything major with the allowance money, but they just seemed to trickle out of her hands with such ease.

That had been before the Kamino Ward incident and the subsequent creation of the dorm system. It saddened her a bit, not being able to see the kids of her neighborhood. She looked after them on the weekends, when their parents wanted for some free time just for themselves. And her meetings with some of those kids had been rather few and far in between, but she was still fond of them.

It was unfortunate that she no longer could "work", but living in the Heights Alliance made her conclude that her spending habits had diminished with the new living arrangement. So, she could deal with a bit of longing for her babysitting days.

Then came the provisional license exam and Bakugou's surprising failure of said exam. (It was a surprise. Because Bakugou? Failing? Unheard of.) But what hammered home a good mood for her was finding out 一from Todoroki, because her explosive friend was as tight lipped as they came一 that one of their remedial classes had them taking care of rowdy kindergartners. She almost burst a rib laughing at the mental image of Bakugou being manhandled by the kiddy league.

After that, there was a commotion with the internships and Midoriya looking more stressed as the days passed. The media didn't have anything to say, so it definitely was a secret operation that the heros were conducting. She hadn't interned with a hero that was deeply involved in the operation, but even Fillos had told her to keep her eyes and ears peeled during patrol and report back anything she noticed out of the ordinary.

She finally got her answer a few weeks later, when news came out that the heroes conducted a raid on a prominent yakuza syndicate base. They were the people behind the manufacturing of the quirk suppression bullets. It was scary to think that cinnamon roll Midoriya was there, at the heart of the conflict and playing an active role in it.

But even after that whole debacle, Midoriya was still stressed. He was obviously concerned and worried over something, but he wasn't talking. Not even one of his muttering sessions had managed to unearth something. It had to do with the time he spent as Sir Nighteye's intern. More specifically the raid. It was as if they hadn't fulfilled all of their goals during that time.

Sure, they got the bad guy and closed down the operation, but Midoriya acted as if he'd failed the whole world by not doing something. They all knew he was down. And it wasn't just their resident cinnamon roll that was feeling useless. Ochako-chan, Tsu-chan and that blockhead Kirishima all looked like they were carrying the world's burden on their shoulders.
