Stray Kenma

Once at the dining hall, kenma felt overwhelmed. There was lots of noise, kids talking loudly, knives and forks clacking together and chairs scuffing against the floor that echoed in the room. He felt his heart race, flapping his hands and turning away. "Sweetie?" Miss J asked, seeing he was physically distressed. Kenma frowned and furrowed his eyebrows at her. "Its okay, let's go grab you some food. You must be hungry." She reminded him. Kenma looked down and felt his stomach, she was right. Taking his hand, she lead him in to the front of the line. Kenma didn't have to wait most times, lines and waiting making him anxious with people in his space or an internal fear there will be no food left for him. It was a trigger that was much easier to avoid, not wanting kenma to feel the need to rush what he ate or hoard his food like when he was very little. He clung to Miss J as she got his food served for him, knowing exactly how he liked it and that it wasn't going to touch his other food. Miss Jenner carried the tray, seeing kenma was still too overwhelmed right now. Miss Jenner took him over to yamaguchi and Hinata, they always sat out of the crowded groups out of courtesy for kenma. "Kenma, you're back" Hinata expressed his joy, carefully pulling out the seat next to him for kenma. Miss Jenner put the tray down, leading kenma to sit next to Hinata. Kenma rubbed his eyes and nodded, looking down at his food to see what it was. He picked up his fork, pushing around the fish fingers and chips. Lucky for him it was something he liked, settling nicely and starting to eat. "Okay.. I'll be over with the other teachers, come over if you need anything." She encouraged. Hinata nodded, giving a smile before munching down on a fish finger. Yams ignored her, his head hurt from dehydration. He pushed around the fries, waiting for them to go soggy. "You still don't look good." Hinata pointed out. Kenma gave a confused look. "Yamaguchi is always pretty." He quickly snapped. Hinata gave a smile "Yeah, I mean he still looks a little sick." Hinata explained. Kenma nodded chewing with his mouth open, Hinata was right. Yamaguchi lowered his head a bit and sighed. "Yeah.. just a headache" he mumbled, still pushing around his untouched food. "Oohh yeah! Like when it's the first day back at school and it's a lot to take in so your brain hurts?" Hinata asked. Yams gripped a hand to his stomach, giving a stiff nod. "Y-yeah, something like that.." his nerves churning in his stomach. Kenma was too busy eating his food to really notice the change in mood from Yamaguchi. "Oh.. maybe you should eat something or have a big drink for your headache." Hinata suggested, gesturing at Yams full water cup. Yamaguchi groaned under his breath, taking a sip to please hinata. The water always tasted funny when away from home, stomaching it anyway. Hinata gave him a thumbs up, going back to his food. Kenma smashed his food, shoving the rest of the chips in his mouth. "M-more" he told Hinata through his mouthful of food, it almost protruding out his lips while signing 'more' excessively to Hinata while going to stand up. Hinata had seen Miss Jenner deal with this, he had got really good at recess lunch meals since miss Jenner would ration out his snacks so he wasnt shovelling it in and choking. "Kenma.. you've got food in your mouth.. here sit down" hinata spoke calmly, nerves jittering through. Kenma sat down, using both hands to make sure no food fell from his overstuffed mouth. Yamaguchi stabbed a fish finger "finish what you have in your mouth, you need to chew it and then after I'll give you a fish finger." He offered. Kenma nodded, taking his time to chew his food properly and swallow. Hinata picked up kenmas cup of water, handing it to him. "You'll make yourself sick if you take big bites.. you know you'll get a stomach ache." Hinata reminded him. Kenma had a tendency to force food down to the point he would become overfull and vomit it up, he remembered seeing it for the first time when kenma had full range of food at a birthday party. Any time kenmas food wasn't monitored, he'd still do it even at this age. Kenma frowned at hinata and took a sip. He nodded, still eyeing off the promised fish finger. Hinata wasn't sure how kenma could eat so much and still be pretty thin, he must of burned a lot of calories with his pacing and extra activity like fidgeting or running about. Yams snuck a look around, slipping the fish finger on kenmas plate. They werent normally allowed to share food, having to ask miss Jenner normally if kenma could have more so he didn't make himself sick by overeating. Kenma sat up, wiggling happily. Hinata leaned over, cutting up the fish finger so kenma didnt stuff it in his mouth whole like the rest of them. Kenma watched, taking the bits while hinata was still cutting it. "Okay.. that's it.." hinata told kenma. Though kenma would eat quickly, it didn't take much for him to actually become full. He just needed to listen to his body more. Kenma felt his stomach, he was full. "Mhm.. no more p-ease" he told them, finally registering the full feeling. Hinata nodded, he didn't plan on it. Yams gave a weak smile, he really liked his friends. Though an odd group, everything always worked out for each other. Hinata finished up his fries. Meal time wasn't a place where they normally talked, each being more focused on what was on their plates. "Please eat yams" hinata frowned, he hated seeing yamaguchi so drowsy. Yamaguchi huffed, taking a few fries and pushing them into his mouth to his distaste. "I know it's hard.. we've got to be really good and look after ourselves.. no parents on our back to eat or sleep or to even brush our teeth!" Hinata pointed out, it was their time to show some responsibility. Yams chewed on the food, swallowing followed by a heavy sigh. "I know.. I told you.. I've just got a headache and.. its weird here." He mumbled. Hinata nodded, it was different. Kenma was chewing his teething necklace, staring up at the ceiling fan rotating while the shadow flickered. Miss Jenner came over, looking at the boys plates. "Okay.. hinata and kenma, can you go put your trays away and then go back to the cabins to get your hats." She instructed them. Yams head went lower, obviously being left out on purpose. Hinata nodded, standing and looking across at yams. Kenma stood up, taking his tray with hinata as they left the other behind. Miss Jenner pulled out a seat beside him, facing towards him. Yams rested his elbow on the table, holding his head in his hand. "Not very hungry darling?" She asked softly. He shrugged "mh just still.. my head" he whispered back. "I see.. I think you're a little stressed out hey?" She questioned. Yams bit down on his tongue, shrugging and standing up to remove his tray also. He felt the twinge in his bladder again, ignoring it while he gripped tighter onto his tray. "Okay.. you catch up with the boys.. I'm here if you need anything" She told him, standing up and walking off again. Yamaguchi shook his head as he walked off, he didn't need help like Kenma did. Yamaguchi didn't want to be treated like a baby, he was mature and responsible. He didn't like thinking about coming home with a sore stomach and wet boxers, holding it all day almost but always coming undone when coming home from after school care. He never wet himself at school, he rather curl up and die than bring that attention to himself. Even on the car ride home, his body stiff in order to not wet himself since that would disappoint his father. Of course tsuki knew about this though, he couldn't look past it with yamaguchi fainting smelling of urine and constantly having 'a tummy pain'. He tried mentioning it on many occasions, instead yams snapping back and denying anything like that. 'Kenma was too close today! It's sweat smell I promise! I'm not a baby! I dont do that anymore!' Being common excuses before storming into his room. Yamaguchi was in denial himself, not wanting to face his bad toileting habits. He hated public bathrooms, having to ask to go or becoming an inconvenience to his learning and teachers. The way it was too open, the way they were unclean. Kenma and hinata were in the cabin, giggling and pulling out their hats like asked. "I'm happy." Kenma told hinata, fidgeting with his hands. Hinata smiled "im excited, I hope we can do something fun!" He expressed genuinely. Yamaguchi was walking slowly back, running upset his stomach after midday. Hinata held kenmas hand, both them running together safely to the group activity outside area. They stopped at yams, handing him his hat. Yamaguchi gave a weak smile, putting it on and turning to catch up. He gave in though, walking instead of running. Kenma giggled, running beside hinata. They stopped at the open area, groups of kids waiting already. Hinata caught his breath "I need a moment" Hinata told kenma with a chuckle. Kenma nodded, rocking on the spot while waiting. "And a pee break" he told kenma openly, finally standing up properly. Kenma frowned "but not me." He explained. "Oh okay, that's fine. I still need to go, I'm gonna go tell Mr Berry." He told kenma. Yams finally caught up, arms crossed in front of himself. Hinata jogged up to his teacher. "Mr Berry?" he asked, seeing as he was talking to Mr Cooper. "What is it sport?" He smiled, facing the boy in front of him. "Can I go to the bathroom please?" He asked quickly. "Alright, groups again though." He explained. "Okay, boys and girls. If you'd like to go to the bathroom, please line up with me or miss J. Anyone who doesn't can stay with Mr Cooper again." He explained. As requested, students lined up. Only a quarter this time, most the ones who didn't need to go the first time when they all got off the buses were now in the lines to go. "Kenma" miss J called, holding her hand out. Kenma frowned, turning away from her. Yamaguchi slowly inched away from kenma, not wanting to be around miss Jenner right now. "Can you come with and hold my keys?" She asked. Kenma gasped and nodded, quickly coming over and holding her hand while girls lined up in front of miss J. "Yamaguchi.." she called, looking over to him avoiding just like kenma had. He sighed and turned around, waiting to see what she had to say. "Nothing sweetie, just making sure you're okay." She said, not wanting to ask if he needed the bathroom in front of his peers. Yamaguchi gave a weak smile, nodding and turning away again. With that, the groups left to go to the bathrooms. Yamaguchi stared at the ground the whole time, scrunching his nose at any twinges or pinches his bladder gave off. He did need to go, it was starting to escalate in the afternoon. He hadn't really thought it through, it wasn't like he could rush home at the end of the day. He held his head up, giving a noise of discomfort as reality started to sink in. He couldn't hold it the whole time away, no one could. He decided he'd go just before bed, miss Jenner would surely make kenma go before bed and he could quickly sneak along. "Boo!" Hinata called out, grabbing onto yamaguchis shoulders. A loud gasp was given out, pressing his legs together and shielding his face. "D-dont do that!" He snapped. Hinata didn't actually mean to scare yamaguchi, not noticing yams was deep in thought. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to.. I was just kidding." He apologised. Yams scrunched his nose "well I don't like it!" He snapped once more, grunting and storming off away from hinata. It wasn't like yams to snap so easily, it left Hinata feeling sorry and query about yamaguchi.
