Intervention: Just A Little Help

                             Jörvintir's POV

Ever have to skate directly through traffic because you can't fly? No? Well, let's just say it's definitely not something I want to repeat. Ever again.

Kara: Jörvintir, look out!

Suddenly Kara swoops down from above and lifts me by my underarms.

Jörvintir: Release me, woman!

Kara: And into traffic?

She chuckles.

Kara: Are you really that afraid of heights?

Jörvintir: What? That's preposterous!

I glance down and gulp.

Jörvintir: W-Well, now that I'm actually looking we do seem to be a bit...high in altitude? Could we maybe-

Kara: Nope! We're gonna conquer your fear of heights!

Jörvintir: YOU CAN'T CONQUER SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T EXSIST! PUT! ME! DOWN!

I start wriggling in her grip, hoping she'll just drop me, but instead she loops both of her arms around my upper chest and pulls me closer. I could feel her chin on the top of my head.

Jörvintir: DAMN YOU, YOU INFERNAL WOMAN! I TOLD YOU TO RELEASE ME! THE MOMENT I'M FREE I'M GOING TO FREEZE YOUR OVARIES OFF!

But almost as if I don't threaten her, she continues to laugh at me.

Jörvintir: This is just embarrassing at this point...

Though at hearing me mutter she finally decides to relent.

Kara: We're almost there, okay? I promise I won't do this without your explicit permission. Deal?

Jörvintir: SWEAR IT ON THE TREE OF YGGDRASIL!

Kara: ...what.

Jörvintir: Swear. Swear on the Great Tree of Yggdrasil that you will never ever do this again without my conscious permission.

Kara: I-I swear.

She gulps.

Kara: What's the Tree of Yggdrasil?

Jörvintir: Oh, nothing, just the tree that PROVIDES LIFE FOR ALL NINE REALMS!

Kara: And how am I supposed to know that?

I open my moth to speak but she beats me to the chase.

Kara: And don't say through the bond because you've been hindering it.

Jörvintir: What?

Kara: I was bored one night and wanted to see if maybe I could somehow communicate with Y/n. But what was clear when I tried a few nights ago was blurred and muddy. I hoped it was just a fluke when I first ran into Indigo.

Jörvintir: What? Kara, what are you talking about? I wasn't anywhere near you at that point. By the time I had gotten you, the two of you had already fought.

Her grip tightens and I choke a bit at the unexpected action.

Kara: That's the point! I needed help. Y/n said that I could always count on him and I don't know why I assumed he had gained control, but...

My scalp starts to become damp. Was she...?

Kara: The D.E.O was destroyed. Everyone consumed by Indigo. I had to fight Non and Indigo alone. His heat vision was so much more precise than mine. And hotter. It actually hurt. And Indigo. She was so sneaky. So lithe, yet somehow strong. I just needed help. One I could handle, but two? How much am I expected to be able to handle? I've been suppressing my abilities for years!

She stops, unable to keep her words steady. She clutches me tighter as she sobs. Now I just felt guilty. I'd been giving her a hard time when she already had enough to deal with.

Jörvintir: Tell me what you want me to do.

She stops momentarily, a hiccup escaping her lips.

Kara: What?

Jörvintir: Tell me what you want me to do. Apologies...don't mean much of anything in the face of action. I won't just tell you how sorry I am, I'll show you. From now on, you have my support, Kara. So, tell me what you want me to do.

She sniffles, trying to gain her composure.

Kara: I...I want you to help me take down Astra and save the D.E.O personnel.

Jörvintir: Then I'll follow your lead.

Her heart rate slows and she breaths deep.

Kara: Thank you, Jörvintir.

I nudge her chin supportively.

Jörvintir: Of course. But my help comes with a price.

Kara: Oh yeah, big shot? And what's that?

Jörvintir: I'm going to make you stronger. Emotionally. Mentally. Your begging was a pitiful thing to hear. I want you to be better if you're going to be my sworn.

She chuckles nervously with a gulp but nods anyway.

Kara: I appreciate the pep talk...
