"Mister Afton?" somebody called. William looked up from his son to see Doctor Ingissroy, the same doctor that had talked to him about twenty minutes ago. "Terrance is out of surgery. Everything went great. He's still asleep due to the anesthesia, but he's in room 401 if you would like to see him. He'll be waking up soon."

"He's not dead," Michael whispered, bewildered. He sat up ever-so-slightly in William's arms. "He's not dead!" he exclaimed excitedly.

William laughed. "No, he's not dead," he replied, his laughter filling his words. Michael started to laugh, too. A wide smile started to spread across the boy's face. "Do you want to go see him?"

"Yes!" He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. "Just give me a minute," he said as he slid down from William's lap. He ran over to the three kids he'd been talking to earlier. He talked to them for a minute, then came back to William. "Okay, I'm ready!" he said, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
