Oneshot! FemReader x Yangyang

It was New Years Eve, and 2021 was coming to a close.
You were due to finally meet up with your best friend, Yangyang, after almost a year away from each other.
Long distance was hard. You had both decided to go different paths of life, him deciding to train to be an idol, you going to college.
So you could barely see him, but you tried to call him every night.
You would watch movies together, chat, and laugh until the both of you were fast asleep.
It was always a sweet relationship between the both of you, but your heart wished for more.
When he comforted you, you always felt butterflies when his arms wrapped around your body, and when he gives you small kisses on your forehead when you need them most.
Friends didn't make you feel like that, did they?
But either way, you were ecstatic to get to see him.
So as you waited around the airport for him to arrive from Seoul, you began drawing.
Sketching the lines of his face in colours of reds and blues, as time ticked on.

Then you felt hands over your eyes.
"Guess who Y/N~" A voice chuckled.
"Hmm.. Hendery?" I joked.
He turned me on the chair to face him, feigning a pout.
"You do hurt me Y/N. Lucky I like you, huh?" He said, before I stood up pulling him tightly into me.
"I've missed you, asshole." I said.
He patted my back.
"I've missed you too, you dumbass. I saw you briefly like last week?" He said.
"It wasn't the same! I bumped into you when I was in Seoul seeing my parents.. I didn't get to talk to you very long, and since you're a trainee I couldn't even hug you." I whined.
"Now now.." Yangyang said, tickling my neck with his breath.
"Y'know you could have anyways."
"Yeah yeah.." I said.
He then pulled away from me, as we began walking out to my car.
"Anyway, what's the plan? There's fireworks later tonight near the river. There's meant to be no clouds in the sky, perfect weather for seeing them!" Yangyang said, pulling up photos of the event on his phone.
"Wont it be cold though?" I asked.

"You can just hang onto me the whole night. We cuddle all the time." Yangyang said, his hand wrapped around mine.
"That's true.." Why would this time be any different?
Did he feel the butterflies I felt, the electricity I felt whenever we held hands, whenever we were in contact.
Or was my crush one sided.
That's why I couldn't tell him. He probably has some other girl he's interested in.
We've been friends forever. That's how it should stay.
Right?
Dusk rolled around quickly, as we were wandering through markets and food trucks, looking for a place to get dinner.
"Ah look! This place has the best noodle dishes!" I said, pulling Yangyang towards one of the food trucks.
Yangyang tugged at me back gently.
"This one over here has the best German dishes!"
I grumbled jokingly. "Okay you get two dishes from there and I'll get two dishes from here and we'll share!"
Yangyang just grinned happily.
"Sounds like a plan!"

So he went and got two dishes, and so did I.
It was bustling with life, and I was surprised I didn't lose him.
When we finally got back to our spot, we sat down, huddling together under the blanket we brought.
We ate happily, chatting and catching up.
"Did your company actually let you come and meet me?" I asked.
"They told me I could go home and see family? That's not exactly the category I would place you under, but they won't know! I haven't made a media debut yet, so no one knows my face. Name is all people know. How's college going?" He asked.
"Ah it's okay! I've made a few new friends, nothing compared to you. But mostly I've been focusing on just doing the artwork. They've asked if they can showcase some of my pieces, so of course I said yes. The showcase is next week." I said.
"Ah why didn't you tell me! I'll see if I can stay until then! You never tel me these things." He grumbled.
"So, does the lovely Y/N have a man in her life?" Yangyang asked, wiggling his eyebrows in curiosity, shuffling closer to me.
"Not particularly. Do you have yourself a girl?"

I asked, turning my head to look at him.
Only for our noses to brush past each other, as I could feel his breath run down my neck, his lips a mere centimetre away.
We sat there for a minute, before he turned away, ears and face tinted a bright shade of pink.
"I- uh- that was awkward." Yangyang mumbled.
His heart was racing.
He always felt like this around you. But was that not wrong? You were best friends. Being in love with you might just ruin it.
That's when pops began to light up the night sky, as the new year fireworks began.
I hugged Yangyang to myself, hearing his heart beating wildly in his chest.
"Y/N you know there has always been.. someone in my life." Yangyang started, breathing in heavily.
I turned to him, his eyes reflecting the bright folds and reds of the fireworks, before he turned to me.
"She is the most beautiful person I know. She's smart, pretty, and so talented. But I've been almost avoiding her, because she makes me feel all funny, like flowers are growing in my stomach, butterflies even, I don't know. But I love her.." Yangyang started.

"I've had someone in my life too. He is the most amazing person I know, and is so ridiculously handsome and talented but he can't see it in himself. I've missed him a lot.." I whispered, heart racing.
"Want to know who I was talking about, Y/N?" Yangyang asked, as the fireworks calmed down.
I nodded. What if it wasn't me.
That's when he turned my head to face his, as he leant in, placing his lips gently on mine as he kissed me softly, before pulling away with a shy smile.
"That person is you." He said.
"Now who's your crush?" He asked.
I pulled him into me from the back of his head, kissing him as he had kissed me.
"That person is you."
He smiled, hugging me tightly, before he kissed me again, more passionately time. Not desperately, but full of love.
The fireworks exploded louder this time, lighting the sky up with reds and purples.
The countdown began, but we didn't care.
We had each other, and would into the new year.

He pulled away slightly, so he could take in a deep breath.
"Happy New Year Y/N." He whispered. "Gosh this has felt like such a huge relief I thought you would reject me.." He said.
"I thought the same.. Happy New Year Yangyang." I said, hugging him.
"How will this work with your dating ban?" I asked.
He shrugged. "Dunno, but we're staying together, okay? Together and forever."
Then he kissed me again, under the brilliant fireworks of the new year.
Those fireworks was the beginning of something beautiful.
