A few days later, Robert was discharged from the hospital. He returned home accompanied by Andy.
It had been over a year since Andy had been in that house. As soon as she walked in, she realized that everything was just as she had left it. The wedding portrait was still in the center of the shelf, surrounded by other photos of the two of them together. Every object was exactly where she liked to leave it. She was enchanted by what she saw and realized how sincere he had really been all these months: he was waiting for her.
They climbed the stairs slowly and went to the room that had once been hers too. Robert's arm was still immobilized and he needed help getting dressed and feeding. Andy took care of him lovingly throughout the day. In the evening, she draped the blanket over his body and said goodbye.

Andy: Good night Robert. I'll sleep in the next room, but if you need anything you can call me.
Robert: Andy, you don't need to sleep in the next room. This bed is yours too.
Andy: Everything in our relationship was fast. We never stop to think before we act. I don't want to take any more actions with you that we might regret later. I'll stay here as long as it takes for you to recover, but I'll sleep in the other room.

A week passed. All these days, Andy continued to sleep in the next room. Several times she would enter his room and check if everything was ok. She knew how hard he struggled to get rid of chemical dependency and she wanted to help him as much as possible not to need to use medications.
One day, Andy arrived at the bedroom door. Robert was sleeping peacefully. He showed no signs of pain. She remained standing in the doorway, just watching him sleep. Tears of gratitude began to well up in her eyes as she remembered how many times she thought he wouldn't survive.
Minutes later, Robert woke up and worried to see her crying.

Robert: What happened?
Andy: I'm remembering how scared I was that you wouldn't survive. I'm just here looking to see if you're breathing, just like I did those days in the hospital.
Robert: Hey... come here. Open the curtains and sit here with me.
Even without understanding why he asked to open the curtains, Andy walked to the window, opened the curtains and sat on the edge of the bed. Robert ran a hand down her face, wiping away her tears and then took her hand.
Robert: Casas brillantes, corazones brillantes
Andy: Do you remember?
Robert: I remember every detail of what I lived with you. Andy, my feeling for you has never changed. Even when you hurt me, I still loved you. And today, I love you even more.

Andy couldn't resist Robert's declaration and kissed him.
Robert caressed Andy, running his hand over the back of her neck and bringing her closer and closer to him. Andy finally surrendered to her beloved and gave herself over to the kisses and caresses she craved.
He slid his hand down Andy's back, catching the edge of her shirt. It was difficult for him to continue what he intended to do. Removing her blouse using only one hand was not easy, but at the same time it was a challenge he was glad to try.
Andy was melting at being able to live it all over again with her great love. Her head couldn't think of anything but how much he made her feel loved. How much each kiss represented the celebration of the new beginning. Restart not only of love, but also of life. And it was at that moment that she realized that it was still too early for the two of them to surrender to intimacy. It had only been a week since Robert had returned home, he was still recovering from an accident that had nearly taken his life. His arm, despite touching her so lovingly, was still immobilized. Torn between reason and passion, she needed to stop. So she broke the kiss and tried to pull their bodies away.

Andy: Robert, you're doing a lot better, but we can't do that. You are still recovering. Your arm still needs to be immobilized and... I want you, I want you so much... but what I most want is for you to be well. Even though we need to resist our desire one more time, I just want to see you well.
