Reincarnation 86 Chapter 1
Life is so boring, isn’t it?
I’m Charles Wright, a former Brigadier General in the U.S. Army and current defense contractor working at General Dynamic Land Systems. I’m currently 55 years old and bored out of my mind.
I was so obsessed with my military career that I never married nor had children. I was honorably discharged from the army due to physical illness, which derailed my lifetime goal of becoming a major general. I was so close, yet so far.
After being discharged, I was offered a job at General Dynamics. I had worked extensively with tanks, especially the M1 Abrams, so they were more than happy to put me to work. Even though I was in my late forties at that point, they still wanted to hire me. Since I wanted to help the army in any way I could, I took up the offer. Since there wasn’t much to do during the day, I spent much of my time flipping through blueprints of past company projects.
If only I could have a new start. If only I could start my life over and realize my dream of becoming a major general.
Sometimes, dreams do come true. Though not in the way you would expect.
I fell asleep on the job and woke up in a new body. A strong feeling of warmth engulfed me as I awakened from my slumbering state.
What?
No, this must have been a dream. Why was I a baby? Why was I so… wet?
Wait, what the hell? Why does that doctor have silver hair and eyes? He looks like a guy from those anime shows that those kids are really into these days.
“Congratulations, ma’am! It’s a boy!”
Before I could react any further, I was slapped on my back, causing me to burp. This is presumably what people call “slapping the baby”. It’s a way to ensure that they’re not dead and that they can take their first breath.
Enough of that. Why was I a baby? Did somebody slip something in my drink?
The doctor handed me to a tall and older looking man, who was wearing a fancy suit. He also had silver hair and eyes, which was quite an oddity.
“What do you want to name this baby boy?”
“I’ll name him Charles. He’ll carry on the great legacy of his great-grandfather, who had the same name.”
I was getting riled up. What the hell was happening? Why wasn’t I at my desk? I pinched myself over and over again, but I didn’t wake up. I had had enough.
“Can somebody explain to me what’s the heck is going on here?”
The chattering adults descended into complete silence. One of the medical assistants dropped their mug, but they didn’t even try to pick it up. The room was at a complete standstill.
“I’ll ask this again. What’s going on?”
A lengthy silence ensued. Finally, the older looking man who was holding me in his arms decided to speak up. He still looked quite puzzled from the anomaly that had happened.
“I am Claude Capet, a senator in the congress of San Magnolia and also your father. I must have worked too much last night, because there’s no way that my newborn son just spoke.”
