The year 2020 has come to an end. The Inner Party controls all aspects of life in Airstrip One.
Comrade Jane Jones works at the Ministry of Truth in London, chief city of Airstrip One. The Party's propaganda perpetually floods her senses, the Thought Police suss out and vaporize every person guilty of original thought, and the Party's leader, Big Brother, watches from every poster. Along with the myriad of expected horrors, 2020 introduced the existence of a persistent and ever-mutating pandemic.
Waking to a bitterly cold New Year's Day, Jane finds herself disenchanted with the all-powerful Inner Party. One sliver of solace remains: the administration of the Party's promised vaccine.
As Jane collects her newspaper, she is bombarded with a startling revelation: the phantom arms of the Inner Party have once again exercised their limitless reach, and all traces of the deadly pandemic have been eradicated.
2020 has been eradicated.
It is now 1985.
And Big Brother is still watching.
