Darling, darling, oh, turn the lights back on now
Watching, watching, as the credits all roll down
Crying, crying, you know we're playing to a full house, house
No heroes, villains, one to blame
While wilted roses fill the stage
And the thrill, the thrill is gone
Our debut was a masterpiece
But in the end for you and me
Oh, the show, it can't go on
We used to have it all, but now's our curtain call
So hold for the applause, oh
And wave out to the crowd, and take our final bow
Oh, it's our time to go, but at least we stole the show
At least we stole the show
At least we stole the show
At least we stole the show
At least we stole the show
At least we stole the show
Darling, darling, you know that we are sold out
This is fading, but the band plays on now
We're crying, crying, so let the velvet roll down, down
No heroes, villains, one to blame
While wilted roses fill the stage
And the thrill, the thrill is gone
Our debut was a masterpiece
Our lines we read so perfectly
But the show, it can't go on
We used to have it all, but now's our curtain call
So hold for the applause, oh
And wave out to the crowd, and take our final bow
Oh, it's our time to go, but at least we stole the show
At least we stole the show
At least we stole the show
At least we stole the show
Stole the show
At least we stole the show
Stole the show
At least we stole the show

Nina's scalp itched beneath her wig, and she'd paired it with a dowdy gown. For once, she didn't want to draw attention. Kaz had chosen the establishments with care. She opened the glass case in her pocket and focused on the black cells within it. She could recall the chill of the morgue, the stink of death, standing over the dead man's body.

As she'd once used her power to heal or rend skin, she had concentrated on those decaying cells, she brush against the wheel broker hand, sending those dying cells up his fingers, letting them multiply over his healthy skin.

"Your hand!" exclaimed a woman. "There's something on it."

Nina flexed her fingers, and the cells crawled up bursting in a black stain. Someone screamed, and the players backed away from him. Hidden by the crowd, Nina swept her arm through the air and a cluster of the cells jumped to a woman beside the wheel.

Now the screams were spreading. Nina watched the terror take on its own momentum. People raced for the doors, shoving one another out of the way. Nina went with them. It had been the same at everyone of her stops, the slow bleed of fear that crested so suddenly to full-blown panic. And now, at last, she heard the siren.
