Una bestia

"MAYAAAAA!"

The firefighter was working on some papers sitting at the table when she was brought out of her state of concentration by her girlfriend's scream. She immediately jumped out of her chair and went to meet her. In their bedroom, she found Carina standing on the bed in despair as she pointed at something.

"Babe, what happened? Are you okay?", Maya asked worried.

"It's... It's over there, Maya. Behind you", the Italian woman said stuttering nervously and almost crying.

"I thought you got hurt", the blonde took a deep breath.

"But... It's there. Right there", she kept saying.

"What's there, Carina? I see nothing", Maya was looking back and gesturing with her hands as she tried to figure out what her girlfriend's fear was about.

" It's right behind you. Be careful", Carina moved from side to side on the bed impatiently.

"Are you talking about this little one here?", Maya pointed to the spider on the wall next to the chest of drawers.

"Little? That's huge, Maya. A monster", She keep saying restless on the bed. "Please kill her, Maya. It is watching me."

"It's not watching you. It''s just a spider."

" Questa é una bestia e sta aspettando di attaccarmi." (This is a beast and is waiting to attack me.)

"What?", Maya said confused.

"What are you waiting for? Kill it, Maya. Be fast."

"I'm going to get a pot to put it outside, okay?", the firefighter said like someone trying to convince a child.

"Nooo, Maya. I need you to kill it. I need to make sure it doesn't come back", Carina complained.

"I won't be killing it since it's harmless, babe. I'll just put it outside and you'll never see it again because it doesn't know our address", the vlonde played with the situation.

"It will be coming back to get revenge on me, Maya. I know from the way it looks at me. And it will bring reinforcements", the italian continued to speak, almost crying.

"How can it be looking at you, babe? It's just a spider", Maya burst out laughing.

"Don't leave me here alone with it", Carina said when Maya left the room.

"I'm just going to get something to trap it in."
The firefighter trapped the animal inside a pot and turned away from the girlfriend whose reaction was to step back on the bed.

"There, now it's stuck", Maya said looking at the spider through the translucent container.

"Don't you dare come near me with this monster", Carina with a serious expression on her face.

"I will not. Now pay attention to where you step. You can get hurt. And come down, please?", Maya said, afraid that the italian would get hurt.

"Okay. I'll be down as soon as you get this monster out of here. Now go."

"Okay, okay. I'll put it outside. If I'm not back in 5 minutes call the police. She might attack me thinking I'm you", Maya said laughing while leaving her angry girlfriend behind.

A few minutes later Maya is back at the apartment.

"Okay, honey. I left it across the street and threatened it not to come back here. I think it got the message. Are you still there?", Maya said realizing that Carina was still standing on the bed.

"You are very funny, but I know what I saw. That monster was really staring at me with all of its 6 eyes...or 8. Whatever."

"Are you going to come down or do you want me to come up with you?"

"I'm going down, but...can you check if there isn't another one around?", the brunette said putting the most delicate voice in the world.

Maya didn't question it, after all, she knew she wouldn't convince her to come down unless she did as she asked. The firefighter checked the corners of the room for another spider not finding anything.

"No sign of spiders, babe. I think she was a loner. Now come down, please", She said raising her hand to support her girlfriend.

"You're my hero, you know that?", brunette said as she went down and took her arms around the blonde's neck giving her a soft kiss.

"I am...but is that a spider in your hair?"

"Take it off please", Carina screamed as she moved her arms franetically.

Maya was laughing hard at the scene. Noticing the joke, the Italian just turned to her girlfriend and pushed her on the bed, throwing a pillow from which the firefighter tried to avoid without success.

"That wasn't funny, Maya", she said ironically.

"I'm sorry. Come here?", Maya said trying to reach out for her girlfriend to join her on the bed. "I love you and I will protect you from all the spiders that try something against you."

The italian couldn't help but laugh, throwing herself into the blonde's arms.
