Joo-Won looked up from the colorful flyer. "But won't JongMin only be the student council president until the end of this semester? That's one month away! So by the time we sign up, and if we get excepted, he will no longer be there unless he re-wins the next election! We will be stuck with some jerk who shoves freshmen in lockers for a living!" Joo-Won said and shoved some rice in his mouth, even though he hated it. Every semester, the student council re-elects a new president, vise president, secretary, school officer and treasurer so other people can get an opportunity to take a roll. Unless, of coarse, they get re-elected during the final voting. And to be president, you need all A's, honor roll, perfect attendance, no missing homework or assignments, and no I.S.S or out-of-school suspensions.
"Come on, be real. And what if I win it at the re-election? Will you join then?" He asked, hopeful. Joo-Won shook his head and swallowed. "You can't. You have to be at least in 11th grade. We're in 9th. No way that'll happen. And besides, what makes you think you'll win?"
Masahiko held is heart, gasping offensively. "Rude. You know damn well that I could make it. I have never missed a day of school in my life, even when I was ill! And my grades have never dropped below an A- since the first grade! No matter what grade I'm in, I bet I could still run." He said confidently. You could practically see him glowing with self-assurance.
"Well don't worry. We'll vote for you!" The Jung Twins said in unison. Masahiko smiled. "Thank you. But, even though I hate to admit it, Joo-Won might be right. I'm not so sure they will let me run for the position because I'm only in ninth grade, even if I'm an excellent student and perfect role-model." He admitted. If he was being honest, he really did want to join the student council. And if he ran for president and won, he would have the power to change limited but important rules of the school, because the principal doesn't do shit. Masahiko wants to make it a safer school, and is sick of the lies the principal spreads that the school is 'the best in the country'. And he definitely wanted to keep the two sides of the school separated for a long time, for the safety of the students by separating the outside fields so there would be no connection to either sides. Same with proms, sports and other activities.
As for Joo-Won, it's not like he wouldn't vote for him, he was just uncertain about joining student council himself, not only because of the age differences and all the possible negative outcomes, it was also because the student council would go to 'T.H.L' to make announcements for future sporting events, dances and after school activities. He heard many stories of the other students bullying and harassing these students though, and it was always risky to venture past the giant, locked metal gates that separated the two sides, guarded by security. Just the thought of stepping foot past the red line under the gate made him shudder. Even though he didn't want to have to go over there, he knew that if Masahiko went to the other side, he would want to be with him to help keep him safe, even though he was a wuss and avoided any conflict. But he would risk it all if his friend got hurt. That's what best friends are for. Protection, happiness, and the good bond between them. He knew that very well, too.
Joo-Won placed the flyer on the table, sighing in defeat. I guess I have no choice. He thought to himself. And he'll keep harassing me about for weeks until the election if I keep refusing.
"Ok! Fine! I'll go to the meeting. But only because you want me too. Not because I want too." He declared. Masahiko smiled. "Great! See, I knew I could persuade you!" He cheered, happy he's not going all alone.
"Well, maybe we will go too!" Ha Eun chimed in happily. "That could get me closer to you-know-who!" She said dreamily. You could almost see heart fluttering all around her. Her twin fought the urge to roll her eyes. But she knew that she would go too, just to be closer to Masahiko, so she said, "Y-yeah. I'll come too! J-just to... observe." She stuttered. She internally screamed and ripped out tufts of her hair hearing the way she said observe. Luckily, Masahiko seemed oblivious to the true meaning of her statement. "That's great! We can all go together to the meeting tomorrow!" He cheered, happy that the final decision meant everybody was attending. Joo-Won sighed. Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt. And besides, it'll be better since we're all going. He thought to himself.
