In life, Spawn is Al Simmons, an elite agent of the CIA. In a mission gone wrong, Al was killed by enemy forces and sent to Hell due to his high kill count of innocents. Making a deal with the devil Malebolgia, Simmons agrees to become a Hellspawn and serve Malebolgia if he is allowed to see his wife Wanda one last time. Malebolgia agrees and returns Simmons to the living realm. Unfortunately, he gets sent 5 years after he died as a rotting living corpse and without most his memories. I hate it when that happens. Some time later, Spawn chose to defend the mortal realm from evil, ascending to join other demon slayers in I.N.D.E.E.D to balance demonic evil throughout the dimensions.
