like a leaf in the warm breeze of autumn

in the flashes of twirling reds

in the comforts of orange

in the flickering of yellow

that the common onlooker may see

to end the b    r   e   a  t h   i    n       g life of summer

with such vivid colors

a dance in which we share

so we may feel the

warmth of our colors in the winter

tis our lively season's end

and our minds beginning

we'll hit the ground with such a force

and we'll

death shall kill us both

and we'll be buried

underneath the snow

and if and when we

finally awake to spring

i shall hope the almost ethereal

cherry blossoms bloom

in behalf of you and i

for our time apart,

has made our roots g r    o       w

                        r into the earth

intertwined hands 

that touched during the winter
because when the ice covered the sky, 
and theres was no place up to look
we looked down and remembered our past
and grew roots to hold each other
