Seven years ago I ran and I didn't stop, I could still hear the footsteps behind me and the car following me. My mum sat in the car following us making sure my brothers caught me. Luckily they didn't.
I ran through a couple parks and hid in a alleyway with a couple doors. One was open.
I stood near the open door debating if I should go in or not but I didn't have a choice, the voices were getting closer.
"GIOVANNI! GET YOUR ASS HERE NOW!" I saw the shadow of one of my brothers Xavian.
I quickly opened the door and sunk down the wall knowing they didn't see me.
I took a breath and smiled to myself. Am I finally free?
I looked up and I was in a small hallway that lead to a big massive room that was hidden away with only one small window. But it was dark. Very dark. The only light that came in was the moon shining through the small window lighting up the big room.
It looked like an abandoned cafe and a inside skateboard park? It looked amazing. But there were holes in all the wood where you skate and spray paint was everywhere covering the place.
I decided to go to sleep before looking around since it was nearly 2am, I will call Levi tomorrow. He will be happy for me. I'm free!
Seven years later And this is my home. The place I found on the 3rd of July 2013 was my home. My job.
Seven years ago after being there for a couple weeks I knew nobody was going to find me and also no one knew of this place except me, Levi and his family. Those weeks were the best weeks ever.
They offered for me to stay with them for awhile and I accepted knowing I was going to redecorate the place and live there. It's just all a matter of time.
So in a year me, Levi, his little sister and his parents helped me redecorate the place.
We cleaned and changed the flooring and even put some floor boards down and we also changed the deck wood for it to be more smoother to ride on. And we somehow also got foam for a foam pit.
We also painted the walls white and one by one we spray painted our names onto the wall and whoever comes to visit this place can to.
We put up shelves with different skate boards up on the wall near the cafe and we even got our very own customised ones. Me, Levi and his sister Annabelle. But we had to wait until Annabelle was old enough to teach her since she was too 'young and fragile.' (Their mums words, not mine...)
And throughout the year we also found a door that was always locked so we couldn't get in but Levi's dad George forcefully opened it and to say we were shocked was a understatement.
It was an abandoned boxing ring. Pieces of wood was everywhere but the boxing ring, it looked brand new, just dirty. There was a stadium and even stairs that lead up to another stadium where you can see the ring over the balcony.
We also cleaned that up and brought new punching bags, weapons and more to learn stuff knowing our intentions of when we're older.
When I also searched everywhere there was also a spiral stair case next to the cafe that lead up to a small room that had a one way window that only I could see out of. It looked over all of the skatepark and there was another window that looked out at the boxing ring. We had brought a double bed that practically fit the whole room and a couple drawers for my clothes.
Whereas the cafe was my favourite of course. Because of the food. They had empty slush puppy machines which gave us the idea to Chuck them out and get new ones and we got tons of food like it was a shop. But not that much. Just so I could live with it for now but when we were going to get this place going we were going to stack it with different snacks.
And the place was done after a year. It was amazing. But it wasn't full yet.

Of course I couldn't pay for any of this and that's why Levi's family helped. I was a stubborn child and I never wanted to agree to this but after a while I promised them that I will pay them back when I was old enough. They didn't like the idea but it was the only way they would get me to agree on this.
Throughout the few years after that Levi's dad taught us some self defence with weapons and all since he used to do it when he was a child but he didn't remember too much. And that's when I found Mr. Mklanti aka Kenny. He used to be a professional boxer and when he heard what happened to me he was more than glad to stick around and help us.
And he's still with us today.
We even learnt how to skateboard and doing tons of tricks off of YouTube.
It was going amazing. Until he died.
I didn't believe in anything anymore. My best friend I met in kindergarten had died. I still speak to his family a lot but it's still hard.
His family had gave me his skateboard and I remember just sitting there on my bed looking at it. It sat there in front of my bed for a couple weeks before I finally got the courage to walk down the stairs with it and put it onto the one empty shelf behind the till in the cafe.
Over the couple years we had renew the shelves with food and Levi's dad built a little till so if people came here they could buy food and he even set up little tables and chairs where you could eat.
For a while I was lonely. None of Levi's family really came to see me since they were dealing with the loss themselves but when Annabelle realised I was gone for a while, she forced her parents to come find me and she literally shouted at me telling me not to give up on mine and Levi's dream.
