It's a normal day it class. Y/n is just sitting in his class while the teacher takes roll.

Y/n is anxious about his name being called. But he already changed it. His preferred name is in the system. But he still gets nervous

"Y/n?" The teacher called out as they looked to see who says here

"Here" y/n says casually.

The teacher takes roll till he reaches tanakas name

"Ryunoske?" He called as the teacher looks around the class

No reply

"Ryunoske?"

Still no reply

"Tanaka Ryunoske?!" The teacher said a bit louder

Tanaka shot his eyes open with a slight snort
"HUH? Uh here" he said as he was startled awake

"Try to stay awake next time" the teacher said as he got ready to teach

"Will do" Tanaka said as he leaned back and then fell asleep 5 minutes later

Y/ns pov:
Wow.. I know Tanaka is my best friend and all but.. hes just got this charm about him. But idk if he dates cis guys. Let alone me

I continue to write my notes till I hear someone call my name

"Pstt.. y/n.. pstt"

I look up to see Tanaka trying to lean towards me.

He sits behind me at an angle. He trys poking me with his pencil

"Can I copy your notes? Pretty please" he whispered beg to me

"Yeah I'll let you copy them"

*time skip*

A couple of months go by and tanaka and I are officially a thing!! I couldn't believe that he not only accepts me and likes boys.. HE LIKES ME! He's the best boyfriend I could ask for.

We walk hand in hand down the hall till someone stops us.

(Slight tw: this is where the transphobia starts. Feel free to skip of you want)

"Hey Ryu, aren't you gay or something? Why you with a chick" some asshole says as I feel a Tanakas grip on my hand get tighter

"What did you say?"

"Tanaka no, it's okay. Let's just ignore him" I try to de-esculate the situation. I just don't want anything to happen to us.

"You heard what I said. Doesn't matter how short her hair is. She'll always be a girl"

*smack*

Tanaka smacked him so hard that this assholes face turned the other way. S

"You say anything about my BOYFRIEND ever again... im knocking your ass into tomorrow" Tanaka said as he grabbed this guy's shirt to pull him closer "understand that?"

"Pff.. whatever" the asshole scoffed but he had slightly water eyes from the smack. He just walked away.

(Transphobia over now, you can restart)

"Are you okay babe? Did he hurt you or.. ill go get him so I can actually kick his ass" Tanaka said all red face and overwhelmed with his emotions just stopped to look at me.

"Tanaka, I am fine. I've gone through this at my old school. But thank you for protecting me.. you didn't need to" I say calmly. I was taken aback a bit but I've just learned to grow thick skin.

"DIDN'T HAVE TOO? uhh it's called being a decent human being!" He said as he got a little aggressive with that last comment "listen, even if we weren't dating or friends. I would still stand up for you. I know you don't need me to protect you but if I can teach I one punk not to be an asshole then it's worth it."

I just look at him, he really does care about me. His actions matches his words. Thats what I love about him.

"Ryu, thank you a lot. It's true. I don't need it. But doesn't mean that I don't appreciate it. Everytime I hear that I just know I can't change what they think of me just like how they can't change me. They can't change us" I tell him as I pull him into a big hug

"I love you y/n! Your the most amazing boyfriend a guy could ask for"

"I love you too
