Strutting down the hallway, he felt eyes were glued on him. Some were of envy, some were of hatred and some were of adoration.
He smirked inwardly, he loved it when his presence affect people. In fact, he loved being loathed and envied by people, even though there was really nothing to be envied.
But little did people know, beneath this cocky and confident demeanour, he was just an empty and dark hole filled with endless void.
His black leather ankle boots thudding against the floor could be heard across the room, throughout the laughters and noises of students talking to friends before entering the dining hall for dinner.
His confidence strut turned into a halt when some girls grabbed his white crumpled shirt. He looked down at them, eyebrows raised and hinted them to let him go.
"C-clive, hello! We just wanted to give you this!" One of the girls with two braids on her head beamed at him. She handed him a red box, which was probably filled with cheap chocolate since it was the valentine month.
The girl next to her fluttered her round eyes, attempted to appear innocent and appealing, which really amused him and, no. Not in a good way. He plastered on a small, insincere smile at the girls.
"We made this just for you! Happy valentines, Clive!" They said, or more like squealed together like chipmunks and scurried away into the dining hall to their respective table.
He rolled his eyes, annoyed that they even had the audacity to touch him. He held his jacket tighter under his arm and carried the red box to his dining table.
"There he is, our man!" Harold began and nudged Elliot's broad shoulder. Getting the hint, he began sniffing and rubbed his eyes, pretending to cry.
Clive he rolled his eyes. They were exaggerating the fact that they didn't saw him the whole day today as he was busy with football practice. He took a seat in front of Ezra, who was lying his head on the surface of the table. He was in the football team too, but he skipped practice today due to his sickness, and he was probably also high from the cannabis he smoked prior to dinner.
"What's that red box?" Elliot asked, intrigued and snatched the box before Clive could even respond.
He opened it and gasped, amazed to see chocolates shaped like poorly molded heart.
"It is the 13th time this week." A guy with soft but also monotonous voice spoke up while walking towards Clive. It was Daehyun.
He took a seat and placed his borrowed books on the table. This time, Ezra let out a faint, sarcastic chuckle which came out breathy.
"I don't even want it. Elliot, you can have it if you want," Clive replied casually, putting his right fist under his chin, waiting for the principal to announce the dinner.
"You hear that, Harry? He gave it to me!"
"Ah shut up, don't try to earn my pity if you get food poisoning.. Can I have some?"
"What, no?"
"Come on, Ell!"
"Just share them." Daehyun spoke slowly while his eyes were fixated on a page of his thick book. "They probably don't taste good anyway. Judging from the appearance.."
Elliot and Harold looked at each other with the same emotion in their eyes. Hungry.
"Hey babe," A raspy, feminine voice which belonged to Harold's girlfriend, Edith greeted their ears. She kissed Harold's jawline as she took a seat next to him.
"Hey boys," She greeted the others with a phoney smile which was layered with pink lipstick.
Clive nodded in acknowledgement towards her greeting meanwhile Daehyun and Ezra didn't even look at her. Elliot just pretended that she wasn't there. There was a reason why Clive was the most favoured one in the group. They didn't really fancy her as she was such a try-hard and could be very irritating.
All of a sudden, Edith smacked Ezra's head, hard to 'wake' him up and giggled as if that was the funniest thing ever.
Harold raised his eyebrows, surprised and perplexed that she did that. Honestly, he didn't even know why he still stayed with her.
"What the fu-" Ezra sent a death glare towards her way, not amused in any way. "I didn't fucking sleep, for fuck's sake?"
"You will go to hell with that kind of language, you know?" She answer with a sly grin on her face, still thinking that it was funny.
"Edith, it's not funny, so please drop it." Harold replied. "Besides, hell is Ezra's birth place.. So, he won't mind." He smirked at Ezra who had a scowl on his face. He lay his head back on the table.
Edith squinted her eyes at Harold, offended.
Elliot laughed animatedly seeing Edith's appalled expression. Daehyun glanced at her shortly as the corner of his lips twitched then averted his gaze back on the book he's reading.
"Edith, sweetheart, I really think you should go back to your barbie friends now," Clive chirped in with fake concerned tone lingered in his voice.
Her mouth formed an 'o' as her face was scrunched, offended and stomped angrily towards her friends.
"Remind me why you're still with her again?" Elliot questioned Harold with a teasing grin.
Harold huffed, and gave Elliot the same grin as him, though not as sincere. "The sex is good."
They all bursted in laughter.
"How revolting." Daehyun muttered.
Dinner was dismissed at 7 p.m and all the students were required to go to their dormitories to change clothes and prepare for prep.
Every student had rose from their seats to greet the principal, Mr Brown before everyone was allowed to leave the hall.
"Wait, before everyone leaves, I would like to make an announcement. Clive Knight, please visit my office after this. Thank you." He spoke with a microphone that was left on the podium before dismissing all the students.
Clive raised his eyebrows, when he heard his name mentioned by the principal.
"What did you do now?" Ezra asked him with concern filling his eyes. This caused Elliot to glance secretly at Ezra.
Clive shrugged his shoulders, insouciantly.
Daehyun then stood up with books under his arm, and looked at Clive with a 'you-don't-know?' look.
"I think it's about your roommate who had left the academy this morning," He spoke with a nonchalant tone.
Harold had his eyes widened.
"He had left? That was sooner that I expected,"
That poor boy. Clive had pull out varieties of pranks to him since he was so geeky that he didn't dare to say anything to him and the boys. Once, Clive even locked him out of the room and made him sleep outside when he told Clive to shut the window.
"Oh well." Clive muttered with amusement lingered in his eyes.
