High-class ladies of all ages and tastes in fashion barred Lennox from crossing the dance floor. One in particular boldly traipsed up to him, and he reluctantly engaged in conversation.

"You're Lennox, aren't you? Surely someone as attractive as you knows how to dance? Come on, share this song with me. It's my favourite," she pleaded. Oddly enough, the girl had striking white and orange hair and was dressed in dark clothing.

Lennox knew instantly that she wasn't like the rest of the guests there. "Sorry, Miss, I'm not in the mood for dancing. I'm looking for someone at the moment."

Her eyes widened as if she were discovering a treasured secret. "Oh, I see. You have a lover, don't you?" She leaned to the side. "I don't see a ring, is it a secret relationship?"

Despite his opposition, Lennox's face flushed with colour. "No—that's not it—" he stuttered in embarrassment. He couldn't fathom where she had gotten such an idea from.

"Then why won't you dance with me?" She frowned.

Lennox scanned his mind for an excuse. Not very believable, but he found one. "Sorry, it looks like someone's calling my phone. I have to answer it, if you'll excuse me..." he trailed off, trying to glean her name.

"It's Delavare. Miss Delavare, to you."

"Right, Miss Delavare. You'll have to excuse me." He rushed away and sighed in relief. In his mind, he had barely made it out of there alive. The florist didn't know how Chase could stand it.

As if reading his mind, Lennox's phone lit up, announcing a text from his brother.

Chasey-Racey:

How r u doing? Mum says they will be starting dads promotion ceremony soon, and she wants u with us.

He sent a swift reply.

I just escaped from a mob, where r u?

Not soon after, a different number sent a lively chirp to his phone. It was most likely a pharmaceutical client.

Unknown Number:

I have a time and a place for the T refill. Are you available?

Lennox knew they had been already scheduled for a refill today, but they could use some serious work on their timing.

Yes, I'm available, but it'll have to be quick.

Lennox sighed as he walked outside to the limo, handing a few hard-earned bills to the chauffeur. "Can you take me to the house?"

"Got any more cash?"

Lennox rolled his eyes and handed over more money. "This enough?"

"I guess it will have to do. Get in da car."

Lennox nodded; he would make that much in tenfold tonight.

Meaning he would be that much closer to funding his escape to the countryside.

Lennox approached the rendezvous point, insulated briefcase in tow. Any sounds made by the capsules were silenced, leaving only the echoes of his footsteps on the pavement.
