Mia was dead on her feet by the time we got back home. The boys were out like a light, but they had a good time and that's all that mattered. It was a day well spent.

"Thank you," Mia said when we were finally alone.

"You're welcome. Get some rest. I have some work to do."

"Okay."

She closed her eyes and I gave her a kiss on her forehead before going to my office. There were so many things I had to deal with. I was being attacked from all corners. The latest attack came in the form of my ex-wife. I looked at the message she'd sent me earlier today for the second time. Why was she doing this to me? She wanted to re-visit shared custody.

I covered my face with my hands and sighed, but my frustration was short-lived because I sensed her presence before she actually spoke and our eyes connected. She was leaning against the door.

"What's today's problem?"

"You mean what's today's new problem? Safiare wants to re-visit shared custody."

"Of course she does."

Mia rolled her eyes and moved away from the door to lean against my desk.

"I don't get why she's doing this now. It's the worst possible time."

"However it's the best possible time for her. She's an opportunist. You're involved in a scandal right now with another woman and child, so of course she's going to use it to her advantage."

"How can she put our child through this again? She's so selfish."

"What did the lawyers say?"

"I haven't spoken to them about it yet."

"Didn't they notify you?"

"They know not to bother me on a Sunday unless absolutely necessary."

"Since when?"

"Since you moved in and since it's not just me and Zayden anymore."

"You never had any problem disturbing me on a Sunday."

"That's different and you know it."

"Whatever. Anyway, I think you need a break. When was your last vacation Mr. Paxton?"

She came around the desk and sat in my lap. My hands circled her waist.

"I'd have to ask my assistant."

She smiled.

"You've never taken a vacation or a day off since I've known you. Maybe you should."

"What would I even do?"

"I don't know...something other than work."

"I don't think now is the time for a vacation."

"You need a break."

"Mia, I can't take a break right now."

"Yes, you can."

"No, I can't. I have responsibilities both at home and at work."

"I think you should take a week off."

I laughed.

"That's impossible."

"Paxton Corp. isn't going to crumble if you do, and I'm okay here. It's not like I can work if you're not working anyway. Besides, I've already rearranged your schedule for the week."
