Love
Something Vinnie and I had fallen out of. We sat on the opposite sides of the room, staring at the floor deeply. Desperately wanting to be all consumed in the wooden floorboards of my house. Selfishly I wanted to keep trying and pushing to feel it again but unfortunately, it never worked.
"I'm sorry," I apologised wholeheartedly.
My gaze shifted from the floor to watch his saddened face. He met my eyes.
"Don't, we both aren't in it anymore. I don't blame you, you were perfect," He gently whispered out, tears lacing both of our waterlines, threatening to spill.
I scoffed and looked into the far corner of the room. Studying the clean, smooth skirting boards.
"Why can't you just stop? Please, you're too kind to me. I need you to hate me. I need you to stop saying the words that will make it harder when it ends," I say distraught.
A shuffling noise shifts me out of my stare and towards the source. Vinnie has stood up and began walking towards me. He kneeled in front of me, gently pulling both of my hands in his.
"I'm not gonna stop. Because you're perfect, you're everything good but in a person," He replies.
His hand reaches up towards my face and he delicately caresses my cheek, wiping the tears. He leans forward and places a kiss on my forehead, making more water cascade down my face.
"I don't want you to be just a memory yet," I sob out.
"I won't, promise, we just weren't working. This will help us," He adds.
I continued my sad rambling, "I don't get it, you make me only want you but- but- ugh, I don't know."
Tears upon tears fall down like a waterfall, leaving the shirt I wear soaked.
"I understand because I feel it too. You make me forget about what is good for me, I selfishly want you more than my own happiness," Vinnie whispers softly to me.
I look up at him, analysing every feature his face offers. Wanting to remember him for the rest of eternity. How can people who aren't in love, think so completely and utterly high of each other.
"This is making it so much harder to end," I say sheepishly.
He hums in agreement, just staring into my eyes. I gently lean up and place a kiss on his lips, after taking it in he kisses my lips too. He leans his forehead to mine and we both close our eyes.
"I'm gonna miss you," He gently says.
"I'll miss you too," I reply.
We need to do this. We need it to end before we become to dependent and toxic. Vinnie stands up, my eyes following his every move. He grabs his suitcase with some of his things in it and gives me one last smile.
"We'll see each other again one day," He says with confidence.
I smile at this and wave. He waves back and turns to leave. The door closes and I have no clue as to when I'll see him again.
I guess he was just the right person at the wrong time.

A/N: this one is super short and definitely not sweet but it is inspired by the song 'When It Ends' by Avery Lynch. Even though I haven't been writing for a bit, just reading the comments you guys leave daily is the most joyful and humorous part of my day.
