"Hey love,"

I greeted Vinnie with a smile as I walked into his room. He laid lazily against the head of his bed, scrolling urgently through his phone.

"Hi," He mumbles, still distracted by his phone.

I slightly frown and place my bag down on the edge of his desk. I slowly make my way to his bed and flop down next to him.

Vinnie and I have a small fling, that's how I would put it. We would flirt and treat each other like we're boyfriend and girlfriend but without the labels. I've been thinking about asking him to go serious but he's been a bit off recently. These mixed signals are so confusing but I'm trying to decipher how he feels.

He moves away from me slightly. I lift my head up from the pillow and look at him questioningly. He must feel my gaze because he looks at me with slight annoyance.

"What?" He questions.

"Uh, nothing," I whisper with disappointment.

I turn my body away and lay back down. I hear him sigh before my eyes get heavy and close.

I had finally woken up from my sleep. I tried to move but I felt two heavy arms draped around my body. Vinnie was behind me, cuddling. I lightly brushed my fingers against his arm in comfort.

This is what confused me. He pushed me away but also wanted me to be close to him.

I carefully moved Vinnie's arms and sat up on the bed. I looked over at Vinnie and noticed his tear stained cheeks. I moved the hair out of his face and slowly his eyes began to open.

"Hey sleepyhead," I said smiling at him while playing with his hair.

"Hey," He replied bluntly.

Vinnie sat up as well and gave me a soft kiss on the forehead. He reached over and grabbed his phone before continuing his scrolling from earlier. I just sat there with a confused look across my face. After registering the event that just happened, I looked over at Vinnie's phone. Oh no. He was looking at new cars, that's never a good sign.

"What's wrong love?" I ask while moving closer to Vinnie and cuddling into his side.

"Nothing baby," He replied with no emotion.

I looked up at him with seriousness. He looked down and gave me another annoyed look.

"I know somethings wrong, please just tell me," I gently say.

"Nothing is wrong," He replies.

I begin to move off the bed.

"Well then I guess I'll just go-"

Vinnie grabbed my waist and pulled me back down to him.

"Don't go," He whispered. His voice cracking slightly.

I put my hand on his cheek and looked at him. His eyes began to water and sadness washed over his face.

"Hey, I know you're hurting... but, you're not alone, okay?" I tell him, giving him a peck on the lips.

Tears begin rolling down his face and he pulls me into a hug. I lay on top of him as his arms wrap tightly around my waist.

"I just haven't been the best recently," He whispers softly in my ears.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" I ask.

"Maybe a little bit later, can we just cuddle for now?" He replies.

"Of course. You know I love you Vinnie, more than you'll ever know," I whisper.

"I love you too, thank you for putting up with me. I just thought if I pushed you away, it would hurt you less," He replied while softly stroking my back.

"No matter what you're going through, I'll always be here."

"I know," He begins. "Y/N, this may not be the best time to ask but... Would you like to make this official?" He asks shyly.

His body tensed, scared with anticipation. I gently smiled and giggled.

"What? Did I say something wrong?" Vinnie began to panic.

"No, no. You're just adorable," I laugh. "I would love to be yours," I reply.

His body relaxed and he let out a sigh of relief.

"You had me scared for a minute," He mumbled with a small laugh.

"Ok, let's take a nap now," I yawn out, closing my eyes and relaxing more into Vinnie's body.

"I agree beautiful."

Vinnie's arms around me hold me tighter, if that was even possible, and we both drift off into a deep sleep. Knowing that all the mixed signals he gave me, were now resolved.
