Who killed the cat?

^~Chapter 1~^

"Ms. Mittens!" Yelled Mr. Chancellor, her owner, "I'm going to work, don't be bad!" Mittens took her chance to bathe herself for a while, as there wasn't much to do when Mr. Chancellor wasn't home. As she was finishing up, she heard pawing at the window, which was always left open.

She jumped onto the window sill and angrily asked, "What do you want, Simon?" Simon looked worried, but he stayed silent. "Simon, what happened?" She demanded, and yet still Simon was silent. "Simon if you don't tell me I'm going to claw you."

Simon huffed and quietly said, "Chicken was found dead.." Mittens froze and stared at Simon for a minute, clearly in shock. "You're lying," Mittens said, denying what she just heard, "You're lying, right?" Simon avoided her eyes and didn't say anything, "Simon," Ms. Mittens said, staring him dead in the eyes, "This isn't a very nice prank to pull." Simon immediately spoke up, "It's not a prank I swear! I'll even take you to the spot he was found!"

The old lady who lives right next door to Mr. Chancellor and Ms. Mittens said from her yard, "What's with all the commotion from you two?! Could you stop meowing, my husband is trying to sleep!" She went back inside, clearly annoyed.

Mittens and Simon stared in the direction she went before returning to their conversation, speaking quieter this time, "Take me there then Simon," Ms. Mittens ordered, and Simon quickly obliged, jumping down outside to the grass, with Mittens following suit.

     They were approaching the owner of Chicken's house, "Just in the living room," Simon muttered before standing to the side of the cat door so Ms. Mittens could go inside first. After they went inside they saw Chicken,

-GORE/MURDER SCENE IF YOU'RE UNCOMFORTABLE SKIP PAST THIS-

with a stick in their eye, bleeding out, with multiple deep and scattered scratches across their head and torso, they lay limp in the middle of the room with a pool of blood surrounding them, soaking into their fur.

-GORE OVER, STAY SAFE-

      "Wh-... You really weren't lying." Ms. Mittens had barely managed to get that sentence out before wanting to hiss at the sight and run off. But she wanted to get to the bottom of this, she wanted to avenge Chicken. "I don't know who did this or who would want to.. I'm sorry for your loss, Ms. Mittens" Simon mentioned before Mittens could say anything else, not bothering to hide the pain in his voice.

"Do his owners know?" Mittens asked, concocting a plan to avenge Chicken. "No," Simon said, "They went out of town yesterday." Mittens thought for a moment, before asking, "Mr. Chancellor won't be home for quite some time, should we try getting your humans' attention?" Simon sat down for a moment, as the smell of Chicken's blood was rather nauseating. "That's a good idea, but let's get out of here, the smell is making me feel sick," Mittens nodded, and they left the site, heading off to Simon's house.

Simons owners were two nice ladies names Jacklyn and Gabby, both in their mid-twenties, and they were going to get married two months from that day. They were close friends with Mr. Chancellor, although they knew him as Jacob, not Mr. Chancellor. They had adopted Simon from the shelter a year ago, and he loved them dearly. Every other cat in the neighborhood loved them too, as they were some of the wealthiest residents and always provided the best quality cat food, and occasionally, without their owners knowing, gave some of the cats catnip.

Simon and Mittens entered the house through the pet door, and meowed loudly to get Gabby's attention. "What is it, buddy?" She asked, giving Simon some scritchies. Mittens meowed again, and both of them made clear gestures towards the door. "You want me to follow you?" Gabby sighed, "Alright, just let me get some shoes on first and grab my keys." Gabby left the room, and came out two minutes later with shoes on and her keys, "Love, I'm going out for a bit!" She yelled out to Jacklyn, "Alright, be safe!" And with that, they were off.
