Chapter 4: Match

Recalling the past will only restrict you from focusing on the present. Cedric already moved on from all the pain that was brought by that one girl he once fell in love with. But the mark was haunting, to the extent that he had to plot a schedule for his life just to keep himself distracted. He joined a symphonic band to have his own kind of solace and to make new friends.

Cedric is known for fooling around with the people around him. Sometimes would crack the lamest or darkest jokes among his friends. Perhaps, the one you could call the jester of the town.

But that's questionable. Even the go-with-the-flow-type-of-person has a burden hidden with him. He didn't want any small thing to create huge chaos, that seems petty for him. Life is short to pour all your anger on crappy matters that are a waste of time to be given so much attention to.

You can never be happy if you keep engaging yourself in conflicts.

"Oh my god, you guys," Cedric said as he tried reenacting Darzee's mannerism.

Darzee pulled a middle finger to him, "Shut up."

Alfonso rested his arm around her then said, "It's just a joke."

"You two need to stop," Darzee said as she shoved Alfonso's arm away.

While Cherry and Nicole were sharing earphones as they listened to IU's recent album, Lilac. At the same time, they both watched Cedric and Alfonso making fun of Darzee.

"What do you guys think of Mr. Lopez?" Nicole started to open a topic before taking a sip of the wintermelon milk tea she's holding.

"Pretty interesting," Alfonso responded.

"Well, he's mine," Cedric absurdly mocked.

Darzee suddenly gave Alfonso an annoying look, "Oh, I smell a rivalry."

"Now, it's your turn to shut up," Alfonso scoffed.

"There are plenty of fishes in the sea! Unfortunately, you two admired the same fish. Pfft."

"The fuck, I hate your analogy."

Cedric raised a brow on Alfonso, "You mean, you're having a-"

Alfonso cut him off, "Nah, I'm not. That's too fast, dude."

"If you're getting there, I'm ready to foolishly compete with you," Cedric plastered a kind of nuisance on his face.

Alfonso tried to hide his anger. They may be best friends but he hates the ones who are trying to get in his way to own what he actually found first.

Nics purposely coughed, "I think it's getting late. Let's go home, shall we?"

Their group called Gestalt has been living on for about three years. Time flies fast when they just used to be shy with each other at their first meeting. Soon enough, they might be able to reach the point in their lives where they would need to part ways as they venture their journey to their dreams.

Darzee waited for her friends in high school to fetch her at the parking lot. Alfonso and Cedric went straight to their dorm together. Nicole and Cherry decided to stay for a while and discuss a private matter.

"Nikki, can I ask you something?" Cherry said while they both walked through the streets from a peaceful compound.

"Of course, what is it?"

"About earlier, what did you mean by that?"

"Which one?"

"You said you'll support me. But it's not what you think."

Nics laughed, "Your face looked so defensive."

"W-wait! No!"

"Speaking of Mark, he's right around the corner, look," Nicole teased.

Cherry gasped, "Wait! Did you do this on purpose?"

"I'm not," Nics started playing innocently. "It seems you're destined to meet him again."

"I'm really going to smack you after this, but," Cherry thought about it twice. "Thanks."
